View Full Version : Oh YES, that's right, CA. You got it all correct, didn't you?!

Yep, you did one heck of a good, accurate, Eurocentric job. Praise the sweet lord. This map may date to the early 17th century, but heeeeeeey, it's still way better than CA will ever do, eh? And excuse my laziness in not properly scanning this; by all rights, I should actually be working on my essays right now.

That looks a little to well charted on the west coat most maps of the time. I don't think Russia had mapped out the Bering Sea yet:

What makes you think some foreign European came up with this map?

Eh. If the Americas were given the same detail as, say India, then I wouldn't be complaining about this at all.

That is NOT an early 17th century map.

I think he is saying it's an early 17th century map made by the native american tribes.

Oh, well that'd be quite cool. Do you have a source?

Also - this is a game about how capitalism + humanism + industrialism lets Europeans nutkick the rest of the world when they were in a period of weakness. Why should it not be Eurocentric or atleast Eurasian Centric? Maybe for Warpaths but your complaint isn't really much of a complaint.

India isn't being given more detail than the Americas. There was a lot more going on in that entire subcontinent during the 18th Century than just a simplistic division between the Marathas and the Mughals, with Mysore as a single province. That's a gross simplification, for the sake of game play, and for limiting the number of separate factions the AI has to control at once.

I agree it would have been nice to more variety and less distortion in how CA handled the Native Americans, but I don't think they were singled out for misrepresentation. An addition to India, the Ottoman "Empire" has a fair amount of distortion and simplification in it too.

I can understand you, having native American routs, feel snubbed about the misrepresentation of Native America. At least they are represented in the game and even get a DLC. How can you claim CA to be eurocentric when there is added native American campaign but Switserland just doesn't seem to exist.

I'm sure some mod will come along and expand on America. And if that isn't the case you can do it to.

I wonder why they never bothered with doing anything with Switzerland. It'd be funny if they gave them the best army in the game, but no one could use it.

America in ETW always felt half baked considering 1/2 of it was just uncontrolled territory, which makes things odder when the Huron own territory like 600 miles apart from each other. Also it'd be cool if they had more of South America, atleast Brazil so Portugal could feel special. Then again Brazil would turn rebel considering Spain almost always kill Portugal.

Yeah, what's with Switzerland? Switzerland is a faction that is in all the game files, and with proper modifications, can be played in the custom battles.

But why aren't they on the campaign map? I would ask the same thing with the Khanate of Khiva, and Tuscany, who are also in the game files but absent from the GC. Only proves that ETW's an incomplete game.

I wish we had those promised modding tools.

I'd rather have modding tools than a multiplayer campaign.

That's unfair. CA will give us both, and have them be so ill designed and buggy that both will have negative value. :juggle2:
