If US Marines drink beer, have one on me. Must just about the oldest regular force in the US.
I wonder where they got the idea from? :idea2:
234? The Navy didn't even exist at the time, how could the Marines? In fact, IIRC, most officers aboard ships and boats during the revolution were Army officers filling in the gap which is why the Navy's official birthday is somewhat later than the Revolution.
Just curious.

You mean our Royal Marines? possibly the most lethal force to step of a boat since the dawn of man kind.
Believe me, you don't want to be the enemy when the commandos are coming up the beach, or from the air, or one of the many other combat insertions they're trained in.

US Army Infantry is the oldest regular force in the US.
Resolution of the Continental Congress: 14 June 1775
RESOLVED, that six companies of expert riflemen be immediately raised in Pennsylvania, two in Maryland, and two in Virginia; that each company consist of a captain, three lieutenants, four sergeants, four corporals, a drummer or trumpeter and sixty-eight privates.

Soory, backwards; and the motto is nicked as well.
Happy Birthday, nonetheless.
