I've been wishing to submit pictures into these competitions but none are made anymore. What happened? And why are they gone?

I did a quick search....MAA continued them until March, but then stopped. No announcement seems to have been made in any visible place. In May, Vasiliyi and Aemilius Paulus revived it, but did not continue into June. It seems that MAA, who ran all of them until March, just gave up....who knows? My searches didn't return anything deeper than that, unfortunately....

In May, Vasiliyi and Aemilius Paulus revived it, but did not continue into June.

Speaking of Vasiliyi, where is he? And maybe i will start a competition.
