anyone have songs that they tear up to?
i have only one.
To live is to Die, by metallica (duh.)
specifically 4:32-6:47
it was the memorial song for Cliff, which is probably why i teared up. especially when the violins come in.

i also learned the solo for that song. its actually quite easy, (almost) all in the 14th, 17th and 16ths frets.

My eyes get wet everytime I listen to our national anthem (the Deutschlandlied). "Ich hatt einen Kameraden" is pretty sad.

Hurt - Johnny Cash (I know it was originally a NIN's song, but Cash did it so much better)

Taps - You know it's gonna be a bad day when you hear this song playing at Ft. Missoula (I work like 3 blocks from the VA Cemetery). Thankfully its only happened maybe twice, but I still get teary.

Layla - Eric Clapton

Well, kind of. The content of the song is irrelevant, as it's a personal thing.

And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda.

Don't just play it for November eleventh. Play it all the time, and cry until it hurts.

I get a strong desire to tear up the road whenever I hear "It's a long way to the top". Does that count? ~D

For some strange reason, that is the way I read the title until I opened up the thread :embarassed:

Amazing Grace played on bagpipes will get me every time. People always tell me that's odd because I'm, not to introduce an off topic, the opposite of religious, but if you hear Amazing Grace piped live at a funeral even once in your life I guarantee it's an experience you'll never forget.

Sometimes Dylan's The Times They Are A-Changin' will get me, depends on my mood.

Only songs that can match that for Australian-ness are Land Down Under and Waltzing Matilda.

Oh and this one gets me every time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkX7ga_uR-U&feature=PlayList&p=1EE156FEA301E79E&index=0

RIP Andre you silly fattie you are missed.

Especially fun at 3:00 when the audience takes over. Of course you don't undertand the lyrics but it's about a father taking his son apart for a good talk, we call it 'het levenslied', bit like german schlagers

Waltzing Matilda.

Heard it when I was a kid and thought, "that's a goofy song".
Heard it much later as a back-drop to a documentary about Australia, in context it is unmatched.

Having long since destroyed any credibility by admitting to a secret love of "Moulin Rouge" I compound the error submitting this song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmL3m2zcoOI).

Always guaranteed to bring a tear to this eye.

I agree that it is a great scene - but it doesn't make me cry. :beam:
