View Full Version : Jet Li's 2002 Hero Movie
Just watched this DVD last nite. I wish the movie had been more epical with more melee battles rather than kensai duels. imo, its kinda disappointing to have seen the news about how the movie involve thousands of ppl to play as soldiers but the movie itself only depict them as a show of might. Still, the raining arrows is awesomely pictured and the sword duels is imo a grand example of excellent cinematography. Casting is awesome as well,China(HK)'s best actor and actress of the 90s tony leung and maggie cheung plus jet lee and zhang ziyi, booming hollywood imports. It will be released in the US in a yr i think, and I'd say it will worth the price.

Didn't really like the movie, too arty and light on realism.

Happy Chinese New Year to everyone.
Redrooster, a very good English-language source for military affairs from the fall of the Jin Dynasty to the fall of the Tang Dynasty is David A. Graff's MEDIEVAL CHINESE WARFARE, 300-900.

The sword fight is cool. But if you are expecting a good battle scene then you'll be dissappointed. However, the show of military strength for the Qin kingdom is impressive and the fighting scene between the swordsmen is truly artistic.
I had always wonder what will happen if the Qin emperor expand his territory like the mongols and met with the Roman empire, it'll sure be some great battle. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
