Im sure iv read sumwhere the number of settlements are hardcoded and cant be changed but i recently saw the new RTR mod which seems to house twice the amount of settlements as previous mods iv seen including EB, EB 2 would be even more amasing if more settlements were added, dont you think so?

What are you talking about? RTR doesn't nearly have as much provinces as you claim. It's just the map covers a quarter or less of EB's map:dizzy2::dizzy2::dizzy2::dizzy2:

Yes, that would be amazing. What also would be amazing is if Pamela Anderson had her vehicle stalled in front of my house, but with no money, would be forced to use sexual favours to get my help. Dreams, my boy. Dreams.

Both RTW and M2TW have a maximum of 200 provinces (199 land + 1 sea). That is no different for FOE than it is for us? Did you count the settlements yourself, or did you rush to conclusions based on a perception. The RTR team have stated often enough that the limits above are the limits they have to work with, and there is no way around that.

Keep dreaming...
And hardcode is hardcode, that means it can't be changed, well Eb could use ten more provinces, but that's just dreaming

it is only possible to have more settlements with the help of permanent forts, that simulate other cities.

other question. will permanent forts have names ? for example look at this mod. There have forts names.

Oh cool, will this be utilized by the EB team as well, or will we have nameless forts?
And btw, what mod is that?

Ooooooh, that mod looks quite cool :3

Random thought: It shouldn't be impossible to do it for forts which are present when the game starts, but I'd imagine it would be harder for player-constructed forts.

Enjoy your Hepititis Meth. Either way, I'm fairly certain it's entirely possible to name forts, but how they plan to have them work as settlements is something I'm still eagerly awaiting to learn.

Could someone translate the German discussion? I want to know what they did to give those forts a name... It's been a while since I looked in the mod workshop forum so this could be old news, but I'm interested. I know some basic German but I see that ETW is mentioned as well, and some guys that are certain that you can go over the settlement limit.

EDIT: Tried Google Translator, no succes :P

That forum has mostly announcements and no tech-talk, so I don't think you will find much info about the forts there.

They talk a bit about the permanent forts in this preview:
http://www.totalwar-zone.de/forum/appetizer-nr-3-finale-karte-und-reservist-st%C3%A4dte-1648/medieval-2-total-war/modding/work-in-progress/t17621-f143/?7c92f0e8

They don't think they can go over the province limit, they just added 2-3 forts per province, but don't really explain how they did it. They say they learned how to name the forts from an italian mod named Machiavelli 5.0, which seems to be rather unknown in english-speaking fora, and then developed a method that was easier for coding / implementing the forts.

Are you saying Pamela anderson is hardcoded? i wont mind to break that code... :laugh4:

 sry back on topic, well i find easy to reach that conclusions, if those are based on perception, but allthough other mods, could have a diferent disposition of setlements, meaning more setlemnets in one area, EB have a bigger área with setlements more spread out.
But I think this is amatter of perspective and game conceipt. The number is hardcoded, so it cant be changed, only the distribution of this number. there is a diference.
