View Full Version : Papal Election Fraud!
I just had a papal election where one candidate was mine and the majority of the cardinals were also mine. The result was a foregone conclusion - or so I thought!
In the end an English candidate won, with a whopping 4 votes to my 8. Erm, hang on a second...
Any ideas what might have happened? I thought it was just a straight elecion, most votes wins.

Wow, that bug is taking its victim again.....
Seriously now, that was a bug in M2TW... just try to accept it as "Divine Intervention"
As a player, I'm perfectly happy to say "Meh, shit happens!"
As a programmer, I am somewhat curious as to what causes this bug! Has anyone ever alluded to possible causes?

AFAIK It will happened on 2 circumstances :
1. Your cardinal has less piety and or eligibility, and your rival cardinal has more of them... It always had a chance that the game didn't count actual election counts and choose more pious and eligible one, Pure bug by chance though....
2. You has attack the Papal State before... then you've got more fraudy papal election  I've got this when I play Holy Roman, and kick Pope from Roma....

I had this happen to me recently... it was odd because I dominated the college of cardinals.
I ended up having to reload the game to a previous save, and the second time it come out with a proper result ;)

I think I had this happened few times before. One time portugese cardinal won alltought I had one cardinal vote more. Second time milanese cardinal won even tought I had way more votes. I still have no clue what happened on those occasions but I was excommunicated on both times. I tought excommunicated votes dont count but later I have won while being excommunicated and assasinated the previous pope. Alltought when I won while being excommunicated I had removed large porpotion of the competition to the seat so the votes where more like 8-2.
(But if it is a bug I would explain it by treason of your own cardinals.)

Yeah, I've had the same problem once, I was at war with the pope at the time. Needless to say, my solution was to kill the next three popes and then, with almost all cardinals coming from my faction, the seat was mine

That sounds about right; she was somewhat lacking in eligibility!:laugh4:

1. This may be it. I remember quite large porpotion of my priests having "secretly female" trait. Many of them also had "the unordodox" on their name.
2. I might have visited rome but I gave it back. And that was disipliniary action :D
