Demon, it may just be me but the link you posted does not work. Byzantines in renaissance Italy? What year are you assuming the Renaissance started. I can think of one example, can't remember the specifics, when a bunch of Byzantine scholars went to Italy in the 1300's for a debate with Catholics, liked it and ended up staying forever. Yeah that was my question too - a lot of byzantine's fled to Italy in eth early 1400's - lots more towards 1453
It has been plausibly argued that this influx caused the Italian Renaissance.
