An interview in two parts about ETW and NTW with Kieran Bridgen, where Kieran explains among other things how come ETW was the way it was in release time, why the DLC represents a long term commitment to gamers and a strong argument against those that claim CA have profit only as motive:

Thanks for posting it.

I watched. It is of course PR and some of the explanations are a little simplistic but it was interesting.

I guess if DLC is a long term commitment than that means, reading between the lines, that mod tools are going to be homemade, even though mods show that they just aren’t in it for the money...

I am not going to harp on that as it is a business decision, and I am not blaming programmers and developers for what the suits do.

They say that ETW v1.5 is the absolute base line of what to expect from NTW. Interesting...

They would be quite surprised how much releasing free modding tools can move units. -_-

"ETW was kinda meh but the WWI mod for it pwns. Go pick up a copy! Its like $20s at the bargain bin."

Though the publishers don't really care about the statistics that much after launch except for total units. I wonder why they promised modding tools as well as DLC at the same time and then delayed the modding tools. The devs that posted in the mod forum gave out some tips on how the files were structured and stuff. Maybe it was the higherups that wanted to milk DLC for fun and profit and they had not choice....

Great so I can expect NTW to randomly crash like Empire on my brand new computer just because I"m running vista.

That might be why.

Well, about the modding tools, antisocialmunky is right in a way, but for me it was like, Rome total war was good, the mods made it really great, which was a big reason to buy future products. Modding tools may not win customers, but they could very well help you keep them.

Yes I've got my copy of windows 7 home premium I'll probably install it soon, i just don't have time atm to mess around reinstalling everything. Barring that, I dunno, I'll just have to wait I suppose, does that mean you guys are running empire on 7 with no problems?
