You're welcome. You know; about the food, knowledge, and continent. :laugh4:

Come on Megas, that was a celebration between Europeans and Natives. Why don't you celebrate it too? It is one of those few times when Euros and NAs worked together. Surely that is worth celebrating?

Aye, I have blood from both halves, I thank myself.

Food, family, and football. Doesn't get much better than that.

Yeah, let's all toast the day the local natives tried to bribe the Pilgrims into being allies/mercenaries so that they could defeat another local tribe. Or, alternately, the day the English started taking advantage of the natives' generosity and began the long road to subjugation. And don't forget the torture of the poor innocent turkeys in the name of the evil meat eaters.

Or, maybe we can forget about all that **** and have a nice time with our families for once.

Edit: I spoke too late. Looks like everyone is getting along for once... 'tis the season.

The smells coming from Chef Lemur's kitchen are driving me nuts. Hard to believe I won't be allowed to dive in for another two hours.

Coolest thing today -- a buddy of ours raises free-range organic turkeys, and he brought one over for the feast. Can't imagine what this thing would cost on the open market. Chef declares that the bones, the skin, the entire package feels different. Looking forward to tasting that bird.

lol, used to raise em myself. I loved em, but most of my family didn't. They are not as 'plump' and they dry out a lot easier. (Wrapping them in (turkey) bacon helps :beam:)

Chef brined (http://bbq.about.com/cs/barbecuetips/a/aa112000b.htm) the bird, and then draped it with cheesecloth and kept ladling stock onto it. If that doesn't make a walkabout bird tender, nothing will.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! It's almost time to bust out the expensive bottle of wine and enjoy some of my mum's great cooking. :beam:

Happy Thanksgiving all. We had our meal at lunch just a couple of hours ago. Great food but I'm stuffed - and I can't eat nearly the amount I used to.

The fine folks here at the Org are one of the many things for which I am thankful.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I say Thanksgiving is not about politics, it is about slowing down the rush of everyday life and be thankful for what you have, and for the people you can share it with.

I'd sooo love to have that Lemur Turkey right now...

Coincidentally, I'm having Turkey tomorrow so I'll pretend that it's because of thanksgiving. I'll think of our American friends here. Have fun.

That. Was a devastating. Meal. I'd type more but I'm afraid free-range turkey might come bursting out of my eyeballs.

America's turkeys and humans alike are getting heavier

ONE thing Americans should be thankful for this Thanksgiving is that they have not put on as much weight as the average turkey. Between 1960 and 2008, turkeys bulked up by around 11lb (5kg) to 29lb, an increase of 64%, according to the United States Department of Agriculture. Coincidentally, in that same period the average American man gained 28lb, almost the equivalent of a turkey, according to data from the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, another government agency, and a Gallup poll of 2008. This year an estimated 250m turkeys will be raised, 8% fewer than a year ago, but still almost enough for one bird each for America's 308m people.

Awesome.
