Dedicated to the brave hearts of the Swiss warriors.

Talking of them, do they emerge as a faction once the late period arrives?

The Swiss can emerge towards the end of the High era. For them to emerge the province of Switzerland needs to fit the conditions of a loyalist revolt or be in rebel control (loyalty needs to be below 120%). If those conditions are not met, the Swiss may never appear. The Burgundians are similar and they can appear some time in the Late era in Burgundy.

You will get a note mentioning the swiss at 1290, but as Asai mentioned certain requirements needs to be fullfilled. The year being 1290 is interestingly not one of them, but they can show up earlier.

Thanks! The campaign ended in 1342. 60 per cent of the map is under the rule of Constantinople. The Muslim religion is now almost non existent. The Catholics too are wiped out, keeping their pathetic existence only in few parts of Europe (like Nothern Britain and Scandinavia, Portugal, some islands, and Rome). Hungary was never invaded but it was little comfort to the Hungarian King who saw his small Kingdom tattered by Civil wars. The Novgorod was forced to share the second power role with the decaying Golden Horde in Eastern Europe.

The Byzantine Empire never witnessed a faction re-emergence. The 53 year-old Magnificent Steward and Emperor Andronicus the First* can now enjoy the agriculture boom in his new Empire stretching as far as Central Europe, Egypt, Algeria and France and also from Edessa and Georgia to Croatia, Austria and Wallachia. He is also reforming the ranks of the Imperial guard filling the old Varangian guards with mercenaries from Switizerland. The future is now secured with 6 young heirs of the Royal line.

Perhaps, I may try to tell a story about some characters and noble families that greatly contributed to this glorious victory.

*I wanted to finish the campaign with him as an Emperor. I love the analogy with the RL person.
