just checked the .com viking invasion page and it says there will be Pictish crossbowmen. I don't kno but to my ear that doesn't sound right, does it? It appears the game will mainly take place in the 800's and 900's. So my question is when were crossbows invented and if they were available during the game's period would they have been used by the Picts?

The Picts did actualy use a very early and primitive form of the crossbow. It was a simple hand drawn afair, and so possesed nowhere near as much power as later cross bows that were drawn by windlass or pedal.

It does seem strange, but they are more historicaly accurate than the Jomsvikings for sure.
