Roman Mercenary Armies

It's like anytime I'm at war with the Romans all they do is field stack upon stack of mercenaries.:furious3: They never have a regular legion with hastati, princepes, and triarii. just mercenaries. Now I could see that in 400 a.d but not in camilian era. Is there a way to turn off mercenary recruitment for romans or make them so they can only use a limited number? Or tweak the A.I. or something?

On medium they do that as well sometimes, and the anoying part is that they field only triari and pedites mostly.

I didn't think the AI recruited mercenaries on Medium campaign difficulty? I play Medium campaign all the time and have never seen the AI recruit mercenaries.

The AI only recruits Mercs on Hard and Very Hard campaign difficulty as far as I know.

Actually if you use Alex.exe, you can limit the recruitment of mercs......

I didn't think the AI recruited mercenaries on Medium campaign difficulty? I play Medium campaign all the time and have never seen the AI recruit mercenaries.

The AI only recruits Mercs on Hard and Very Hard campaign difficulty as far as I know.

Negative. im doing a aedui campaing on medium, and the Romani hire alot of mercs. Samiticii, heavy inf, for instance. I think it isnt a thing related to dificulty.

If you are ussing mod pack the saminiti and campanian, are not considered merca, but alae army wich I find very consistent with camilian era.

First of all!
Many are playing the expansion mod pack here, which makes roman troops in the camillan area only available in rome. Big mistake. Never activate it, if you are playing against the KI>

Second:
Camillan and Polybian romans can never(!!!!!) recruit roman troops outside of italy and since the KI can not handle the big map in EB it doesnt send their troops from the homelands to the outer regions, so even if the romans expand further into europe (Only had it once in a campain.) they have to rely on local troops and mercenaries.
I never saw KI marians. Has anybody?
The fact that polybians and camillan romans cant train legions outside of italy (Historical) mixed with the AI incompability with the huge map forces them to mainly rely on lugoae, gaesetaros and illyrian costal levies... Of course they never beat any other KI faction...
