Good day fellow EB-fans!
As we all appreciate, the EB units call their names in their native tongues, when selected. As I hve played some different factions by now I have some unit sounds I prefer over others.
In general I can say that I prefere the Barbarian voicemod. Such a deep voice, so much fierce anger in it!
Buti n particular there is one unit sounding much more intimidating than all the others.
DUBOSAVERLACICA!!!

I really like the Iberian voices. They remind me of my cat... No really, they are great. The Persian stuff also sounds great, and the unit names of the Germanic units. Though perhaps the best one is when you select several Roman units: TRIBUNE??!!!

Iberians always say smth like "Luda", that sounds just like one Russian women name. Lol.

I hate the carthagenian voices. I mean they are fantastic, but they have this one strange call: abIIIIIrrrrrrrrrrruuuuu or so.^^ Every single unit seems to use it^^

I think the Iranian units sound best, though unlike the Germanic and Greek ones, I can't understand any of it.
I also like the Duguntiz because a very obvious cognate of the dug- part in their name exists in my language.

That's a command of the Iberian/Hibernian units, meaning "run" or something in the like.

I like the Tejanos that yell "Somos paisanos" when an enemy unit gets close.
Romans. Definitely.
i would have to say "Guy sach tae","Ambakaro" and "Clona Tekona" are my favourites
"Romani exseete" is pretty nice too.
BARBAROI IENTE!!!!!
(why the greek strategos call his own men Barbaroi?)

BARBAROI IENTE!!!!!
(why the greek strategos call his own men Barbaroi?)
I was also very surprised about that one. Whats the meaning of IENTE?
Because meybe he says sth like "The Barbarians won't prevail"
alexanderthegreater
12-08-2009, 11:18
Or "kill the barbarians".
i like the "hellenikoi kataphraktoi", especially when shouted by several units of baktrian hetairoi katas. the "aamino, hasrah!" (or whatever it is) spoken by the celts is kinda cool too.

There is one, I alway understand:
HUM NOO HEM NUM NEOM!
WARGOZEZ! IS definetly the best of Sweboz, but I still THINK DUBOSAVERLACICA! is more threatening. If you've never heard it, check it out in the sound folder...

The eastern units sometimes say dousgordaan (something like that), but in dutch it really sounds like douchegordijn, which in english means showercurtain.~D

Two units I use almost in every campaign. Units that make my treasury empty and make me bang my head against the wall...
But I like them and their voices:bow:
Mistrophoroi Phalangitai
Mistrophoroi Kretikoi
(spl?)

Mistrophoroi Phalangitai? What faction do you play as?
And by Kretikoi I assume you mean Toxotai.

RUMBA RUM is funny. I think Celtic guys say it when you tell them to go to the walls with rams.

Agreed! I love how it sort of rhymes, I find myself saying it sometimes just because it's fun to say. But good luck explaining to anyone what you are talking about if they hear you...

Haha you know what I mean... the minute you tell them it means mercenary Hellenic spearmen you're just going to get more questions or more likely, a blank stare.
I love the Iberian Dunaminica. Fell in love with the voice and name for some reason.

Edit:
as for Carthaginian voices (especially when you order them to run, or when you rally troops with your sacred band bodyguard unit): i don't know about others, but to me they sound like some people drunk as hell: i can almost smell the smell of whiskey from their breath. Anyway i just love them: my drunken butchers they are :laugh4:
and those Roman Velites: they voice reminds me of some guy from high society when he ask his girl for a dance: especially that "s" at the end, sounds so "lordly" to me :laugh4:

IMO Whoever voices the Iranian units is very talented, as a whole they are very well done.
Especially the Bodyguard.
Khuveshahvegan Shahvar?
But yes, the Persian units were done extraordinarily well.

Yes, TPC did them I believe.

Why not voice it out loud?!? :laugh4:

Yes, the talent is wonderful on the Persians!
I won't believe TPC did them unless he himself verifies this =]

Hetairoi
Samnitii
Appea Gaedotos
Cwmyr
and many more *g* It's a pity that the punic units don't say their names :/
