View Full Version : allied crusade victory
Hi, i have a little question
I raised a crusade against antioch and proceded there with a large stack including my king, the milanese also joined the crusade.
we took antioch, i had the larger force and the milanese general was killed during the siege/battle.
we both held the centre of the city.
However the milanese took the city,
Why is this and what do i have to do to keep the sieged citys in the future.
thanks guys,
Monsieur Alphonse

The army that initiates the battle, that starts the battle will get the city if the battle is won. You can exploit that by sending a lonely unit to aid your ally and then start the battle. If your ally wins then you will get the city.
Who said that war should be fair.
Thanks for that, he probably had started the battle before i joined in, though i think it was on the same go.
lesson learned !!

That is something I shall exploit in the future.

IIRC when you and an ally are both besieging a settlement, even if the ally started it first, and you come up and assault it with a very small force and you use auto resolve, then you get the city. I can't remember ever taking a center with an ally. In such cases I always seem to get in much faster and have sent some troops to block the ally from entering the towne centre. I don't think any of the mods have changed the way this works, whatever way it is.
So, my question to the OP is "Did you or the Milanese initiate the assault? If you did, then I wonder how the computer calculates who controls the center. (I don't think the programmers would waste the effort on such a complicated thing, so I am guessing the Milanese started the fracas.)
