View Full Version : The big huge unit mess....
Well, I think about the cities in EB usually has low population... recently, I was try to play in bigger unit size (huge, because my univ got new better pc), and what I found is my KH cities are quickly become depopulated up to only 400 men.... I think that was ilogical if Athenai, Sparte, and Korinthos has only 2000 - 4000 men, they should be at least a large city, capable to sustain hudreds of troops each levying.... each season....

Pop represents only military age males.
Also, Athenai usually gets to ridiculous size if oyu let it.
Hooo... start to made sense now....

I guess it would be more realistic having athens more population at the beginning and much more income, but it would make the chalenging start of the KH too easy.:book:

Population is too arbitrary in this game, I don't seriously factor it into my roleplaying.

I always try to grow my cities as large as possible.
Unregulated growth can become an issue for the Getai and other barbarians. I'm struggling to hold Rhodes with ~24,000 pop. above 80% public order with a completely full garrison and a client ruler.
WAT? Barbarians got problems in population? Why you don't simply exterminate them?

You can. But then you get an 8% per turn increase in the population, so in about 10 years your back at square one

How so? Is the balance with squalor and public order different or something?
Is there any setted population cap in M2TW?
nah I think it's just that Training units doesn't cost population tho I'm not exactly sure ;)
tbh in my first campaign I had exactly that problem tho through an excessive financial build policy Sparta was the only city with a mentionable MIC ^^ or for some other reason my main recruitment center thus always down to 400 pop :DD and corinth was full of people and dirt no matter what, that was about the time I found out how to use Governments and Factional MICs :D man was I surprised how good the whole thing worked once I had that figured out.
or it was just for RP reasons I don't remember ...
Not as that, recruitment in M2TW Still reduce your population.

That is why the Eb team can have a much more variety of settlement types in EBII. Look at the previews.:egypt:

When you have money and need pop in a settlement, recruit levy units in another settlement. Then disband them where pop is required.
well as it have been mantionned, already, Barb factions are a challenge to play especially because of the population problem (yes Sonic, Barbs have pop problem  lol!) Hmmm, that's why we must take full adventage of ambush adventage where it's heavily forested (Germany) and most of the units have bonus fighting in woods, so ambush + woods + fear effect of many barbs units = defeating sheer number by cunning and thus overcomming the population problems  Still... playing sweboz mostly, I've never enjoyed huge money shower like i read in this forum Romans and Carthies players get... thta's still a problem and often, because of that, we're forced to fight at a disadventage in number... not always, but often!
