Is there a way to change it so that a FM doesn't have to lead a battle to get some military experience? I am playing a Romanii campaign right now and I have Rome filled with family members that have seriously nothing to do... I rotate them when I a bandit army pops up so they are no longer green but I have two 20 somethings acting as cavalry commanders in my army and they have seen many battles yet are still green :wall:

Unfortunately not. R:TW does not have a concept of second-in-command, so all battle traits go to the general only.

Though, come to think of it, aren't the triggers for being wounded or killing enemies independent of the FM being the general? If they are, they could be used to alter the experience level of other FM's.

Maybe we can place a trigger to become blooded and veteran also depending on how many the generals get reduced hit points in battle?

That's what I mean. I want to know if it works that way, though.

Hmmm... maybe I'll try it after backing up the files first, and have some time to play really long...

That would solve the whole "military tribune" problem. Roleplaying them is utterly impossible without giving them command of a few units and having them lead a legion for at least one battle. I usually roleplay it by allowing tribunes the power to quell domestic disputes but never take part in foreign wars
IE
1. squash rebellions with a 1/4 stack; or
2. sitting in contemptuous cities to keep the people at bay, their influence and soldiers keep the peace.
they are essentially a police force for me. that way they can at least rid themselves of that green trait by the time they are 30.
