Like the Orders of the Crusading armies are there any similar type of fighting orders in the muslim word and in muslim warfare in particular????
The Hashashins of Persia and Syria come to mind any others?????????????????????????????????????????
I believe Ghazis were religious troops (any) that fought Christians. I guess that could count as the same.
Maybe Nizaris and Futuwwas?
I'll send this to the Monastery. Seems like a better fit there.

sorry for not replying(was away and such),the only thing that is close to a fighting order are the mamelukes and the nubian archers of eye(they repelled the arab invasion of southern sudan in the 7th century, ironically all 150 arabs who were killed had an arrow in their eye http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif,it ended in signing a peace treaty with the nubians, they became muslim in the 10th century).

Quote[/b] ]The Futuwwah was one of several new Islamic institutions that enabled Islam to survive the ordeal of the Mongol conquest. Another was the host of fraternities of dervishes, of which the earliest was the Qadiriyah, founded in the twelfth century by Abd-al-Qadir of Gitan.
