Hi, I'm playing my current campaign with Carthage and Rome declared war first on me about 255 BC when they attacked one of my fleet (Rome ceased fire the next turn, so I RP it as a maritime accident). When it was my turn there was no screen popping up that war was declared on me (like it was in all other campaigns).
And now about 230 BC Rome besieges Messana and declared also war on my but I only saw it on the diplomatic infomation screen, like Pontos and Hayasdan are now Allies, Rome and Carthage are now at war.
So does anyone experience the same? When I played with Rome, Casse, KH and AS all was ok. So it's not a huge problem, but it is annoying, cause you could easily overlook that a faction declared war on you.
Wow, that's annoying, it's true! I've not experianced that exact kind of trouble, but once in a sweboz campain, i knew I was at war with maks only after they captured a city and i received the screen ''settelment occupied'', it was a minor settelment, so after 3 turns, my garrison surrendered... but still, I was besieged 3 turns without knowing it... i understand your trouble... unfortunatly, I really don't know from where it comes. Surely one does in here! good luck with that pal! oh, it's no big deal, but as you said, it's annoying to be besiege without knowing it... especially for those in the city! hahahahahaha!

What?
Im playing carthage too, and I ot the same problem. Once I even didnt get the betrayed screen after they broke alliance by declaring war.
My guess are assasins and spies. Rome has a lot of them and sometimes when an killing attempt is unsuccesfull it means war. At least in MWII. Im not sure about rome.:book:

Never saw this either in EB, a bug maybe? Or am I just being blind :(
Well, maybe it's only a bug occuring once in a while... but it seems more than one experianced it... :(

I continued my campaign and the Ptolies betrayed me and I didn't get the betrayed screen. It's very strange, but with other factions everything was normal. I have to add that I use no mods, so hmm maybe a Carthage problem?

It's when they block your port with ships, then you get no message.
And with Rome and Carthage: If Rome sets foot on sicily or even attacks Messana (whether it's yours or not) you are at war, but there will be no message, except maybe the one from the advisor.

Yes I also considered that the script could be the reason but on the other hand why wasn't a screen when the Ptolies betrayed me? They didn't block a port, they just besieged a city.

When it was my turn there was no screen popping up that war was declared on me
This happened to me over and over again in my Pontos campaign. The AS would declare war on me every turn by blockading my port with their fleet, and I would manage to get a ceasefire every time with my diplomat. But every time, I never got a declaration of war screen. It only showed up in the generic diplomacy screen, where the diplomacy announcements of various other factions show up as well. It was very strange, and annoying, as I had to check every turn to see if the AS was at war with me or not.
Edit: Sorry, I didn't realize that someone already said that you don't get the message when your port is blockaded. Does anyone know why this is?
