I've been getting a whole bunch of different forum errors for the past couple hours.
Just seems slow in a huge degree...happening to anyone else?
Unable to connect to database server:
If you still have to install Drupal, proceed to the installation page.
If you have already finished installed Drupal, this either means that the username and password information in your settings.php file is incorrect or that we can\'t connect to the MySQL database server. This could mean your hosting provider\'s database server is down.
The MySQL error was: .
Currently, the username is 'totalwarbeta' and the database server is 'swoopdb.telefragged.com'.
* Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
* Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
* Are you sure that the database server is running?
For more help, see the Installation and upgrading handbook. If you are unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your hosting provider.
Is one of the errors
In editing that in, took 5 minutes...had to reclick like 7 times.
another one:
Database Error Database error
The database has encountered a problem.
Please try the following:
* Load the page again by clicking the Refresh button in your web browser.
* Open the forums.totalwar.org home page, then try to open another page.
* Click the Back button to try another link.
The forums.totalwar.org forum technical staff have been notified of the error, though you may contact them if the problem persists.
We apologise for any inconvenience.
I get both of these as well. With about a 50% chance when loading a page. The other 50% of the times they do load, though perhaps a bit slow.

I have problem like that too.
Most of the times I can't go to the next page of threads and when I try to send PM's it takes forever to load the next page.. :sweatdrop:
I'm getting the problem, too.
Makes it all a bit of an exercise in patience.
Same here, I can't access any of the threads in the gameroom.

I'm confirming this problem. Massive slowdown, if it works at all.

Double-clicking definitely leads to a higher chance of success. Try opening two tabs of the same page if you have to.
99.99% of the time it does not work for me. I gotta revisit a page sometimes 20 times in a row before it works. :P I am guessing that this has something to do with the upgrade.

Same here, glad it wasn't just me. Hell, I'm using IE out of desperation, figuring that Firefox (which was recently upgraded) was the culprit; thank god it's not on my end.
Yep, I'm getting the same errors as pevergreen.
On the other hand, pages seem to load either instantly or not at all, so I'm finding it helps to just re-click once it's become clear the process is going to take a while until you get one that works.
The problem has been plaguing staff-members as well. Double-clicking or using IE instead of Firefox does seem to help.

Thought I'd pass along something Gregoshi said:
It has been about 3-4 days now and I still can't get past the forum index - I keep timing out.

I've wondered whether there would be any problems with cohosting the Org on the TWC server. I don't know if it's technically possible to host two forums on one server, but if it is, and both sides agree to it, there is hardware to spare (and room for further expansion), and at least one of the admins has reasonably easy access to the physical server.

The forums always work exactly fine for me, as they do now. I stare my computer into submission. :stare:

Having the same problems over here...And often.

First moving it over one way, and then back, would be a tiring task, not to mention mildly insecure and error-prone.

So no solution yet?
The holidays won't speed up any fixes either. Seems like I'll have to go cold turkey.
Pretty slow responses, lots of reloading required. Is the board being DoS'ed?

So, what went wrong, and how was a fix effected?
Hello,
Sorry, it took quite a while to realise what was wrong. The database, nor the server were the problem, there are no indications of hacking either.

Very good to hear.
Thanks for acting as fast as you could Tosa, much appreciated.

So what was it?

Yeah, I have the same problem trying to program the dvd recorder and the tv remote. Sometimes things just get too complicated and there never seems to be enough hours in a day to get stuff done.

cheers Tosa, what was it in the end?
It might have been those adverts again.

Let's harzard a guess and say it is a mis-configured Drupal? In particular, Drupal being unable to find/locate or access the database?
