I was just wondering about other people's thoughts on the matter. In my opinion (matters very little) I think the praetorian should be taken out as a unit, and that unit slot given out to another faction. I think instead praetorian, I think should be like ancilliary characters, perhaps give a general an extra hitpoint and/or extra detection.

It just seems that (from EB 1.2 experience) the praetorians are one too many units (and trust me I am hardcore Romani) for the SPQR. Honestly, if the unit slot isnt to be given to another faction at least give the slot back to the romans and make it like a western equivelant to the eastern archers.

Just my two cents

I agree that the Praetorian slot should be freed up. This slot could be used for Pergamene (spl?) or another of the new factions to create more diversity from the other factions.

If it is destined to remain a Romani slot, then a new German or British auxiliary unit would be best.

With the current planning we have more than enough unit slots open....

However, would it be feasible to give an ancillary that actually increases the experience of the entire army (not just the bodyguards)? Or maybe at least their morale? I know it's supposed to be determined by the general's traits, but it would be nice if one could, for example, receive a special "officer" or "elite force" ancillary when commanding troops recruited, say, in Italy. I suppose it would be too much trouble to track though..?

Increasing XP of other unit except for the bodyguard is impossible I believe. Morale could be possible though. An elite force ancillary doesn't make much sense IMO. Also I wonder why troops in Italy would always be superior to others?

I think he meant as a romani player, roman soldiers fighting on it's homeland soil would fight harder, as for any other faction defending its' homeland.

Yeah, exactly. And I'm looking at this more from a gameplay perspective than anything, not suggesting it should be added. It looks like I can mod that in. Thanks.
