i highly suggest getting this mod, it makes the AI smarter and more reasonable, and makes the game so much more fun.

I might try it out.

Though, are the starting positions modded by that pornstar any good?

Only times I see "XXX" is in the red-light district or on naughty websites. Can't blame me for some one elses username choices. :laugh4:

My joking username quip aside, is the included mod changing the starting pos mod any good?

Well, I've tried it out. What can I say, I love how Darth has changed the naval aspect of the game. The realism changes in the land battles are welcome too. Another highly welcome Darth's introduction is line and militia units spawning as city garrisons (rather than the useless citizen mobs): this slows down the human player considerably. No more, bum-rushing AI's cities behind the back's of its main armies.

I am not so sure by his approach to "removing the melee bug", by rendering all units into skirmish types.

I played about 10 big battles with his mod. In all of those I formed a solid shooting line. The AI would not know what to do with it. It approached, bundled up in the middle (overlapping its own units) and stood there while being shot to pieces by my line. Sure, the AI did not melee, but in this situation, it would have actually benefited the AI to charge.

One of the main flaws of the ETW (and other TW games too) BAI is that it simply does not know how to form and keep a line. Since this behavior is hardcoded, it is impossible to fix it by adjusting unit parameters even by such talanted modders as Darth.

Another thing that "bugs" me about Darth's mod is that the hide ability is rendered completly useless. The spotting parameter has been boosted to such an extend that the regular AI units can spot hiding light infantry across half the map. If the AI army has a general or artillery (even longer spotting distance), you cannot hide even across the whole map...

Its an ok mod, but i don't like having 2 download this big mod ever week or so... As 2 the Bug fix..... It nice to see the Al move in a line, but the over all thinking/actions of the AI are still the same. It's HC so thats the fix im looking 4..... The big units are very cool 2 look at but "creating a challenge for a true Strategist "I think not. Very good marketing, he learned well from CA...He does add many good minimods.

Let me say this b4 the fan boys come...^IMO

Yeah but it does make the BAI a little more difficult in field battles and less completely retarded.

Darth's mod fixes the meleeing by making the bunching of AI units even worse. These 2 problems can't be compensated for. CA should have fixed these. Too bad they abandoned the game.

In my experience, the bunching is about the same/a little better as untis don't mill around in a ball in range of your muskets. But since you just seem to be posting negative stuff trashing CA this morning, what you say is expected.

I'm giving it a shot....if it does anything to ETW that is near what LTC did to M2TW I may once again be playing this.

You really can't say they abandoned the game when they had a hand in some of these mods (specifcally Darth's).

Officially sure, but unofficially? No.
