View Full Version : Kingdoms: Teutonic Campaign - Pagan Lithuania
Just a question: AS Lithuania how do Samogitian axemen compare to the Teutonic Order's heavy Inf? I am getting tired of playing a HA game and was thinking about going with a lot of Latvian crossbowmen then Axemen and maybe some artillery for support, but I am unsure off how my heavy inf will do vs the Teutonic order's in a head-up fight, even with my crossbowmen for support.

The main problem maybe in the morale between the axemen and the Bruders IIRC, but it has been a long time since I last played...
They are excellent, and most of pagan temple infantry are shock troops, designed to face with Teutonic heavy infantry. Some of them have lack of armor as always, but some of them are strong-all-round. And like all shock units, they have no shiled and hunt down by bowmen easily.
But as Tristan said, they also have huge lack of morale... I count as a mistake to design Pagan fanatics as coward soldiers. Probably EA thought it gives the game a balance.
I'm having problems with playing Lithuania, the problem being that both Poland and the Teutonic order declare war on me off the bat,and about 2 turns later poland turns up with an 800-man army and proceeds to lay siege to my cities while I'm busy dealing with the Teutonic order. I'm cash-strapped for troops as it is, I can't afford to raise 2 armies to deal with both of them at the same time. Any tips on how to buy some time,so I can finish off one of the, before the other starts being a menace to me? my allies of Novogrod are trying to assist me agsint the Teut Order, but are having their asses kicked trting to take the castle of Dunaberg.

You need to decide where to fight to win and where to fight on the defensive (and where to fight and give ground). This is an excellant campaign and you have chosen the best challange --enjoy!
btw -- Your allies may distract, but they will never defeat your enemies for you.
