What are your favourite genres of music and once more your favourite artists? List as many as you like, whether that's 1 or 1000. If you have any ideal playlists, song samples from youtube etc. feel free to share.

As a typical teenager I love music, so I wondered what other people liked. And perhaps albums you've recently purchased. Or if you like, just artists you hate. Be interested to know what orgahs listen to.

It changes every day/week/month. I have over 5000 songs, so... it's a bit hard to choose favourites. But, recently I've been tasting genres outside of what I originally liked. Music is so varied and what I listen too is so dependent on my mood.

I love how my taste has become so variable, I mean I used to not like Pink Floyd because I didn't understand it. I used to not like dance music because I didn't understand it.

Bah. I can't really explain. Better let a song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXukkABq9RI) do it for me.

There are great songs in any genre. I don't like hard-rock and rap in general but there are some gems to be found there as well. I mostly listen classic, Chopin, Satie, that sort of thing. Also love Jazz, saxophone is always sooooooooooooo sexy.

90% of what I listen to is rock, AC/DC being my favourite, and I really like blues and jazz as well, I just love hearing a good trumpet or guitar solo. I'll also listen to and enjoy most styles of music, except rap and really poppy pop music. My favourite song is usually the one I'm listening to, and when I'm driving I usually just chuck on the local rock music station.

The Brought Low. (http://www.myspace.com/broughtlow) Words cannot describe how mind-blowingly, pants-crappingly awesome this band is, and they're releasing a new record in March. Of course, bear in mind that the artists that usually top my listening charts are AC/DC and Foghat, as well as Lynyrd Skynyrd when I need to listen to some serious music.

I'll list my top 5 all time album, in no particular order.

1. The Stone Roses, The Stone Roses.

Probably the finest indie album ever with, IMHO, no weak tracks.

2. The Private Press, DJ Shadow.

An ecelectic album full of of many different genres, all expertly mixed and produced by Josh Davies.

3. Come get it, I got it - David Holmes

Another DJ produced album with some of the finest Funk tracks ever recorded. I had most of these tracks played at my wedding.

4. Jurassic 5, Jurassic 5

The album I play for people who say they don't like rap. Great tunes and witty, observant raps.

5. Let's Knife, Shonen Knife

Insane Japanese punk rock that's great for the car. Sample lyrics:-

We're only making plans for da da dirty dirty bison
We don't like him so much, 'cause he's very ug-ug-ugly
We're only making plans for da da dark brown bison
He has a right to live though he's ill ill ill-shaped
He's on the way to extinction
We only want what's best for him

Genius.

horrorcore has been around for awhile. geto boys and gravediggaz were rapping back in the 90s.

i can like almost any kind of music, but i guess if i had to choose just one, it would probably still be classical. there is just so much to be found in classical works that can't be captured in 5 minute songs. favorite composeres are:

prokofiev and tchaikovsky above all others

beyond those two, it's more about the indiviual composition than the composers, but i do like much of the work of:

rimsky-korsakov, debussy, ravel, bartok, bizet, mussorgsky and borodin. and others, i'm sure.

I know of The Dead of course, but never took the time to listen to them. I'll just try and find some songs on YouTube.

EDIT: I'm listening to Truckin' right now. It kinda reminds me of Creedence.

Léo Ferré - Avec le temps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aiXcUTTLud4

When it comes to lyrics and putting feelings into music they are far superior to the contemporary Anglo-American music IMO. N'est ce pas, Louis?

Yeah, like I said, the album "Workingman's Dead" would be right up your alley. I love songs like Dire Wolf, High Time, Uncle John's Band, and New Speedway Boogie.
