It was my fault that I had a general out in the battlefield the whole time...
Now he's 34 (which is still the age where having children IS possible im guessing), his wife around 30 i think, and before it's too late, I want him to pass on his name.
So I'm just leaving him alone at Roma, but nothing's happening.

Where in the text file do I need to look to find out how to maximize a general's chance of having a children? (So far I just gave him a physician and put him in a settlement)
Is there any age limit for this? (and I really hope it's above 34...)

Urm you can try to give him a trait via a cheat?

give_trait "Generalsname Romanvs""EBFertile"3

That will give him the trait 'prolific' and gives him +3 to fertility (I think).

That's what I did with one of my awesome generals...too bad his son was 'not like his father' :|

^Even if he was like his father he still wont be identical. I've buried my dream of producing superior boys. It doesn't happen. In the end of the day you need to school your generals and take 'em to battle. It's better to just wait for the sharp/charismatic/vigorous ones through adoption or marriage. They won't stop popping up until you reach your limit (about the same as number of cities you own). Anyway, generals don't need to be fertile to have children. I get at least 2 children from every general. Well maybe one or two didn't produce any but I didn't notice it so it's gotta be insignificant right?

Edit - off topic:

You don't need biological son to pass on a name by the way. See Octavian.

Oh darn, my screenshot of general was quite old; i checked the save file again today and his age is actually 41. Uh oh.

BTW, how do Romans inherit the names? I mean, let's say you have "Caivs Cornelivs Nero" or someone with a name four words long (like Scipio Asina at the beginning of the game). I'm guessing it's just Gens (insert name here) that is passed on?
