Hi folks,

I know there's another thread on a similar issue, but it's very much trial and error all the way through with semi-solutions dotted here and there; and I don't want to have to re-re-install the game again because I messed up.

I have downloaded EB 1.1 and the 1.2 patch, and as per the steam sale in December, I bought RTW Gold (RTW + BI, not alex) on steam so I didn't need to bother with CDs and manual patching.

My RTW folder is located here:

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\rome total war gold

I notice when I try to run the 1.1 installer it, by default, wants to go to C:\Rome - Total War (Not program files), and when I tried to say go to the directory above, it said it doesn't recommend being installed in program files...

So I don't know what to do, and would love some proper, accurate direction before I potentially 'drop the ball' on this! =]

Thanks,

- Heskey

That's fine if you are using XP, just go ahead and install there. If you are running Vista you could encounter problems. What those problems are I have no idea as I have never used Vista.

Do what the rest of us did: when installing Steam for the first time, choose to install in C:\Steam, not the Program Files version of it.

Errr, why?

I've managed to get EB 1.2 to load off the Steam shortcut in the Program Files Steam folder, but these 3 additional things I've installed? No idea how they work; the faction info for the Romans states to make sure I have some help/dialogue program open; but I haven't the foggiest idea what it means?

Can't really play EB at the moment guys

Like I said, install Steam at root. Why? When you install Steam at root, any games you install will be in root as well. As EB needs to be install in RTW folder, it will be installed in root (which is better than in program files especially on vista/7 for some reasons related to user-access-control).

For the record, you can move the steam folder anywhere and it runs fine. I moved it to my larger second drive for example. Just copy the base folder and don't mess with the stuff inside and it should be good.

So I just move the folder right? Just got to:

program files(x86) directory and cut and paste to the root? I just got this as well and am just curious. And if I do that do I have to re-install all the games?
