View Full Version : Sir, Rome being overrun by a thousand Augusti

So I'm playing the Romans and I noticed that from 80 BC onwards the engine does not hasitate giving the Augustus honorary title (Making a "Tiberius Cornelius Dolobella" into "Tiberius Augustus") to my Romans. I have currentley about 8 or 10 FM with the Augustus name. I can't play my campaign/AAR like that.
So I want to disable this game mechanic. Is it possible?

Remove trait And it could be because the title "Augustus" is inherited, just like Gallicus etc.

I can't make much sense out of it? Should I do this via consol? Removing/Adding traits with Roman FM is nearly impossible due to the strange game names.
I still want Gallicus and Germanicus names, just remove the possebillity to have hundrets of Augusti.

No in the trait .txts, don't know much about it, we should wait for people who do...

Sounds like the script is going wrong, the Augustus trait causes the childern of the owner to get the Caeser name not Augustus.

It's not the children of an Augustus getting the name trait, it's random FMs.

I know I was answering skullheadhq's post where he wondered if the Augustus trait could be possibly inherited.

Sadly as far as i know any changes you make to the traits file will not show up until you start a new campaign so your best bet is to try to remove them manally with the give_trait command.

You could probably safely modify/eliminate the "trigger" for the Augustus trait, but that would only stop characters from getting it in the future, it would do nothing for the characters who already have it. You could also try modifying the trait text files in order to get rid of the "Avgvstvs" epithet, but that would do nothing to stop the spread of the trait itself. It would only be an aesthetic change to stop it from gobbling up their real name.

A simpler solution, for your AAR, anyway, would probably be to modify your screencaps to show their old name.

Yes I want to get rid of the Avgvstvs name changing thing. I don't care about the trait itself. Ith's confusing when you have 4 Augusti in one city, remembering who was who etc.

So how do I get rid of it?

Roman names is somewhat very confusing... I remember had Tiberivs Avrelivs Cotta who had son named Tiberivs Avrelivs Cotta and Tiberivs Avrelivs Cotta, but one of them turn into Gallicivs :laugh4:

I still don't have an answer that helps me. Soon I'll have more Augusti then regular FM. And that would ruin, more or less, my campaign.

Never mind, doesn't work. I ought to test my theories more often...

Simply delete the bolded line. This should eliminate the epithet from all holders of the Augutus trait.No. That will cause a CTD when the game tries to display the name.

I don't see how this sort of problem could occur unless a trait was added to the traits file during play. I'm not aware of such a bug being being reported since 1.2 was released, which is quite soime time ago.

This is unrelated to the thread but Fixiwee by any chance have you been the national museum in Slovenia? Just basing this idea on the AAR illustration.

He is already in 80BC (congrats), not many people go that far so there is a chance some bugs have been missed.

Sorry Fixiwee, I don't know how to help you.:shame:

I didn't mess with the traits.

No I haven't.

I still need help. This is ruining my campaign. The next important figure in my game was infected with the augustus virus. Argh.

edit: I'm fine editing the trait to make it impossible to get. I don't need more augusti in my campaign.
