This isn't an AAR , it's just my progress in my Baktrian campaign. Normally, I start a campaign and get bored with it later on, so I'm going to create this thread to remind me of the awesomeness of Baktria and to hopefully keep the campaign going. Also, I wanted to show my bro some pictures earlier, and I forgot to, and he browses here without an account, so I assume he'll see this.

At the start, I put all of my forces together, left the faction heir in Baktra, and went towards Kophen. I queued up the MIC which lets me build persian archers, and I built some stone walls. After I took Kophen, I stopped and built up my economy until ~260. After building mines, etc., I took that gava town to the northeast of Baktra, in the little mountain pass. I built up a little while longer, and was building an army to take Gandahara, but then I noticed the Seleucids eying Baktra, and I sent my army towards the town to the west of Baktra. The turn before I besieged them, I broke my alliance with them and got an alliance with the Saka, who controlled Marakanda, and the Parthians. My army consisted of:

3 FMs, led by the starting faction heir, Diodotos.
2 Hellenic Native Phalanx
4 Persian Archer-Spearmen
1 Persian Archer
1 Mardian Archer
4 Eastern Slingers
3 Baktrian Light Infantry
1 Hykarian Hillmen
1 Dahae Rider

That army basically beats the crap out of most things the Seleucids can throw at you, and I'd imagine it'd kill horse archers pretty well too. Here's some cool battles I had with the army:

I don't remember which town the first picture takes place in, but most of my sieges were like that.

Anyways, after that, I just went through and starting rapidly taking Seleucid land, ending in the current situation:

The year is 245, and I just took Persepolis. I'll probably stop there, then go back, take that last Seleucid town on the coast, and take the Indian towns. Then maybe I'll have a war with the Saka. They're my allies now, but I bet if the Seleucids weren't there, they'd have attacked me by now. I'll probably take out the Parthians first though.

I'll update this infrequently. Hopefully this will be encouragement for me to actually complete a campaign. Baktria is probably my favorite faction, so hopefully I'll finish this one up.

Also, I checked, and Capua is at 22000 with a 1.5% growth, so hopefully I get my cool Hetairoi Kataphraktoi relatively soon.

Nice campaign! I just started my first EB campaign ever, as Baktria, so I'll be comparing my progress to yours :)

Looks like our openings were very similar - grab Kophen, then turtle up and develop the economy for 20 years. In my campaign things got a bit tense because of a pesky alliance between the Saka Rauka (who I started off at war with) and the Pahlava (who I wanted to ally with, against the Seleucids). So I was basically surrounded by at-best-neutral powers for a couple of decades. But after the Pahlava got the upper hand in a war with the Seleucids to the north of me, they broke their alliance with the Saka-Rauka, and were very receptive to an alliance with me. *Phew*.

I then used the starting faction leader (Theodotos) to lead an army before he hit 60, taking Gava-whatever to the northeast, and then returning to declare war on the Seleucids and take three of their cities to the south and southeast, beginning with Alexandreia-Ariana. I was mostly using Pantodapoi Phalangites and Persian Archer-Spearmen, with family members for heavy cavalry. After Theodotos died of old age I turtled up for a few more years, developing mines in my six cities. The Seleucids have thrown a few small armies at me, but nothing serious.

My new king Diodotos then decided to take the three Indian cities to the east before grabbing anything more from the Seleucids. I added some Eastern Axemen and Thureophoroi to my mix, to cover the flanks, and even built a 30-mina stone projector to tackle the stone walls of Taksashila, the northernmost Indian city. I just finished that battle. Insane. If you're tempted to take it, think of what you'd need to kill off every elephant you can see inside, and then double that :)

I'm at 240 BC now and my empire still isn't as big as yours in 245 BC (I haven't expanded as far west), but Diodotos still has enough of his army left to march south down the Indian river valley and take the last two cities. That'll probably be as much as he manages, but with the next king I'm going to recruit some Indian armored elephants and march on Babylon :)

Pictures are uploading right now, I'll edit them in after.

Anyways, I starved Gandahara out. I fought a huge battle that I retreated from, but the stupid game crashed afterward, and I didn't feel like repeating it, so I just starved them out. It would've taken me another huge battle to beat them anyways. I also took Pura I believe, the city to the southeast of Karmana. Then, after that, I built some big armies in Persepolis and Gabai, I think it is, and just fended off the Seleucids while building mines. Then after a while, I asked the Saka for map information, noticing that they now controlled Marakanda and the town east of it. They decided to break off our alliance, and they sent a large-ish army towards Baktra. I had most of my family members there, and I had just recently gotten my new bodyguards, so I chased them away. I didn't kill very many of them because just about everything outruns those Late Baktrian Bodyguards, but I bought myself some time.

Pictures momentarily.

First battle against the Saka, outside of Baktra. I was just chasing after them, they decided to withdraw right from the start.

Crappy charge with my cool bodyguards.

This one had a guy flying up in the air about a second after I took it.

Battle results. I love how those bodyguards take almost no casualties at all from arrows.

Baktra afterward.

And the western border, with the never ending supply of three unit armies, mostly composed of silver shields and skirmishers.

I think I'll just be defensive for a while against the Seleucids and the Saka. I was stupid and didn't build up my MICs enough, because I've been completely relying on Archer-Spearmen and family members until now. So, I have enough defenses around, I think I can hold up and build some more mines, get better troops, and just wait a little while longer. I'm thinking of quickly getting a few of my family members together and sacking Seluekeia just to stop the annoying armies, and to get some cash to boost my economy. I'm pretty well broke, as seen in the last two pictures.

Also, Capua was bothering me, it kept getting to like 23800 and suddenly dropping to -1% growth, so I kind of cheated and added 3000 population just to speed along the process. I don't consider that too bad to do as Baktria though, because I know I'm also helping my future enemies around me by giving them crazy good troops too. The same thing kept happening on my Makedon game, where they'd get to about 24000, then drop off, and I lost that game due to crashes, so I wanted to get my cool reformed units before anything happened to this game.
