I don't know if there are any Silent Hunter (sub simulation) fans here, but the latest release in the series
SH V is due to be released in the first half of 2010. They are going back to the Atlantic theater and Kreigsmarine again, but this time with the updated graphics and best of all---a dynamic campaign allowing ones actions to have an influence on how the campaigns play out.

Here's a link to their latest trailer. (The link is a Lithuanian gaming site(I think), but the trailer is in English)

Im a big Silent Hunter fan... or I should say was a big silent hunter fan... Now that ubisoft is going to force themselves out of business I don't feel as though I should buy from them.

I just read in the gaming news thread about what you are referring to. While I hate to see that kind of company policy change, it won't affect me that much. Since I have a fairly stable and reliable internet service--- if the game is good and gets good reviews, I will probably buy it anyway.

Still, I would much rather see them adopt a system like Steam where one can still play off line and game saves are in the possession of the player.

I can only surmise that these company execs believe that any sales losses from these types of policies will be offset by extra business from the reduction in piracy. Whether this is true or not remains to be proved: however, I seriously doubt it will put them out of business.

Cheers

I loved the second one, but did not play any after that. I am currently boycotting Ubisoft though, so unfortunately Silent Hunter is not for me.

Join the protest.... I swear if 2k marin or any company based in the bay area did this, I'd be on their doorstep with a freaking poster and protest music playing.

Nothing like trying to make the best out of the situation of having 4 destroyers on your tail (you won't), that ping in your hull, yeah I like Silent Hunter.

The game ends in 1943 and you can only command the VIII U-boat and varrients.
