Changing Novgorod into a playable faction is really simple

Playing them is not http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif .

Simply Change :
TotalWar/MedievalTotalWar/campmap/startpos/early

Active Factions ...

Novgorod FT_MINOR

into

Novgorod FT_MAJOR


Thats all it takes ... but take care ... you are going to spawn yourself into ruin with heirs, since novgorod (province) only generates a small income

Yeah I suggest that you make a copy of Early and name it Early Period 2 then set every faction to FT_MAJOR and if you have the patch you can scroll down the list of the playable factions, if you don't then the faction "links" will be behind the leaders picture.

Be careful though if you activate ANY of the original minor factions. If you play the GA campaign or try to make a custom battle and click on the shield or try to access the GA list in the GA campaign you will hang the game.
