Hello,

Finally the upgrade you donated for.

I know tons of things are missing, I installed the basic files only. I'll need more time to sort everything else. And that includes icons and skins.

It's not only that it takes time to install everything again, and some features may be lost forever, since the hack doesn't work any longer. We also better make sure the basics work smoothly.

Yes I noticed that too. Although one wonders how much of that is due to the basic skin.

Thanks, Tosa, for all the work.

Indeed. There is much botage going on in the EH, with some very inappropriate pics. Possible freeze on new members until things are sorted out?

We'll figure something out as soon as our favorite Dutchman wakes up and has his morning coffee. :)

BTW, thanks for the bot-reports - very helpful for zeroing in, even if we can't delete the content.

If the bot has "Guest" as the member title, has it already been nuked? Don't want to send in duplicate/redundant reports...

Yes "guest" means instagib.

KukriKhan
01-30-2010, 06:09
Yes. "Guest" means we got it, and it cannot post or PM again. But we have to wait for the assigned staffer to report for duty to eliminate the objectionable material. The EH guys are both in Holland, where it's about 0600 now, on a Saturday.

Things I have noticed:
All my pictures have gone
I can't edit the colour scheme on my profile
Loads MUCH faster
There's a new posts button!
Social groups have gone haywire

But I'm sure that most of the problems will be ironed out. I guess this means I have to cough up now.

Hello,

There are some things to sort, this will take time. Hopefully not weeks, months. But it will be days at least to get the basics back. Not quite true, as the very basic: posting is working. The profile generates errors, all plugins are disabled and the suite doesn't have the CMS enabled either.

Bots become pesky, more so than last week. I'm a little bit baffled that a new product doesn't stop them for at least a few weeks. I will need to look carefully into anti-bot measures. I tried to sign up for something only yesterday and the anti-bot measures prevented me for about 15 minutes to sign up: error, error, error, because I probably failed to read the random string properly. I needed it, so I persisted, otherwise I would leave again. I guess todays average bot has less trouble with it than I do ~:) It will take time to get a acceptable system.

We haven't any now, and bot content becomes explicit and malicious, so, I suspended registration for now. Not nice, but our current members and lurkers can at least enjoy these forums like they are supposed to be.

I'll probably need answers from Jelsoft to fix some errors, they seem afk now. I'll browse around and investigate myself, but there's no guarantee that I'll find answers/solutions today.

Some pictures may be missing, but that has to do with location and/or filesystems only I think. Nothing is deleted.

Well, one thing that bugs me a bit is when I'm in a forum view and don't click on the topic name but the little button to the left that is supposed to get me to the new posts, I usually still land at the first post and have to click the button in the upper right of it to get to the first new post.
I can live with it until you have the time to fix it, just thought it might help to mention it.

Meh, I feel for you, but that is merely our natural resitance to change and conseravtism speaking. I got used to old .Org and I disliek this, but for no real reasons, as Simple Machines forum software is indeed better than vBulletin. Remember, your post may offend Tosa, and he is working as hard as he can, so he may not be as appreciative of such comments... Just saying, sometimes keeping quiet is a better bet...

NO USER CP!!!!!!!!!!!(!) this sucks. when is the user CP gonna be up?!
Patience, Tosa has said it will take some time.

It was a jarring transition, for I never use the default "Shades of Blue" scheme, for only the Finns could be proud of that combination.

But the new forum has stopped logging me out for no reason, and that would make up for anything, even if Tosa changed the colours to the one's on Meth's old profile.

We always had that. But there was apparently an option to enable/disable it, because I remember my AP account having it, but all the other ones still showed the BB code when I posted stuff, instead of applying the BB code straight on. Also, we always had the preview option.

EDIT: So Tosa, will we get our profile colour scheme back? You said nothing is deleted, so I suppose that includes our profile customisations, right?

Odd. It's working for me. There's a split second during the page load where the entire selection of forms shows up, then it collapses down to display the way I set it.

Hello,

The forumfilter is a custom plugin, not a standard vbul feature, so it doesn't work anymore.

This version does a few things differently, so while the data of profile layouts is still there it may or may not be working.

Weird. I'm also using firefox, version 3.5.7, and am experiencing the total opposite. Forum collapse works, last post does not work at all. I don't even get the visual indicator on a post to say that it's new. The only way I can locate new posts is by checking the date stamp (today, yesterday, DD/MM/10) above the avatar.

Might be useful to TosaInu if others with firefox posted their versions and whether these two functions work for them?

I have to tell you guys, though, that the colour scheme and general change in the forum's appearance makes the whole thing seem surreal and dreamy. This eerie feeling has me going around posting whatever the heck I want to test reality and, to be honest, I haven't even gotten any infractions.

It works, but the problem is that the icons are extremelly similar. The old post icon is a white 'page' to the left of the date. The new post icon is the exact same icon, but with a blue-ish tint. Very difficult to tell apart, especially with this color scheme.

Mammon slept. And the beast reborn spread over the earth and its numbers grew legion. And they proclaimed the times and sacrificed crops unto the fire, with the cunning of foxes. And they built a new world in their own image as promised by the sacred words, and spoke of the beast with their children. Mammon awoke, and lo! it was naught but a follower.

I'd like to know what causes this as well. There's a couple of long post in the EB forum that have this problem, and a number that don't. I thought that it could be fixed by editing a post, but when I rechecked the thread the problem is back.

I have the feeling that the layout is depends on which way of replying to a thread I use. Whenever I use the quickanswer button and have a big field to write my answer with, the text goes to the edge of the screen, whenever I use the smaller field in the 'go advanced' page, it is cut earlier though I did not set a return at that point.

One annoying thing I've experienced twice now. When typing out a post don't dally. Anything that takes more than 5 - 10 minutes of idle time seems to cause an auto log out. When you finally hit the submit button you are no longer logged in, you get the guests must register/log in to post message. Worst of all, what you just labored at to type is lost.

When you finally hit the submit button you are no longer logged in, you get the guests must register/log in to post message. Worst of all, what you just labored at to type is lost.

Are you checking the "Remember Me" box when you log in? It is defaulting to no right now, which I think logs you out after a few minutes of idle.

It works, but the problem is that the icons are extremelly similar. The old post icon is a white 'page' to the left of the date. The new post icon is the exact same icon, but with a blue-ish tint. Very difficult to tell apart, especially with this color scheme.

I hadn't noticed. Thanks!

They're both ice blue for me. ~:(

Now I can't see them either. Only new threads have the "new post" icons  .

No they sort of do: click on such a link and afterwards while it is highlighted scroll all the way up: then you will see a menu hovering over the top most avatar. And this menu corresponds to the link you just clicked. EDIT: the key point is scrolling. You must scroll for it to render: even if the menu would otherwise show up in the view port but does not belong with the top most post, you must scroll (downwards first, and upwards next) to trigger re-rendering of the entire viewport -- otherwise it will be (partially) obscured behind the first post.

I curious why whenever you have more than a few sentences in a post, the forum makes the lines 8-10 words long and leaves a bit blank space out to the right. It looks weird to me at least.

I'd like to know what causes this as well. There's a couple of long post in the EB forum that have this problem, and a number that don't. I thought that it could be fixed by editing a post, but when I rechecked the thread the problem is back.

Anyone find a fix for this yet? That's my biggest problem right now as well.

It happens to me whether or not I use Quick Reply or Advanced, and editing the post only seems to fix it until the page is refreshed.

Beskar, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

Oh thank you thank you thank you thank you.... I am just glad they will be back eventually. I feel like my brain is stuck inside snow, and my eyes are going blind from snow blindness.

Maybe it looks ok on a normal monitor but all I have is a laptop, and for everything else to look normal I have to have the brightness up fairly high. The high contrast between the bright white and the black is very bad for me, perhaps more than for others. And I can't turn it down because when I am hosting my Resident Evil game on this forum I need to have several other windows open at the same time so I can easily transfer information back and forth, and those windows are harder to see when the display isn't at full brightness. Then you pair that with the 10 hours or so at a time... and I get headaches from the whiteness.

EDIT: Even odder, now that I follow the link I provided, the spoilers open. But then a different post... the spoilers didn't open for that one, until I clicked on the post number and re-loaded the page.

Odd bug

Hello Askthepizzguy,

Those work/don't work bugs are often the hardest to fix. It works for me on Firefox. Those spoilers expect something from your browser. When you have opened them before, they may still feel they are.

Would it be possible to look at last post time (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?343923-Last-Post-Time-appears-as-Red-Font-in-Opera-%28vBulletin-4.0.2%29)? They're currently light grey on lighter grey, and are nearly invisible.

Looking at the Guild skin too much and didn't understand.

I haven't found all variables yet, but it's getting closer.

"It gets it's color from the class ".time" so check out the stylevar that is used for that class (do a search in templates for the class)."

Does that help?

Added awards, arcase and chat. The LDM has issues with upgrading.

The bars to indicate the amount of PM in the inbox is at the very bottom of the page, instead of the top.

Ok, so we have a skin. Now you just need to fix the white space taking up huge portions of the left and right of the forum. It's not that hard to expand the forum width to be proportional to the size of the browser window.

The hard part is finding where to do it. It just happened and I expected something completely different.

I have a question:

How can I mass-delete read message receipts in my inbox? I have uh... thousands of them. And I won't be clicking each one individually...

TosaInu
03-06-2010, 18:12
I recall from older version that you can mass select a day, a week and two weeks (old ones). Once selected you can delete them all at once. There should also be a select all box at the top.

Yes, I remember; that particular button seems to be missing. I've looked everywhere.

The option is still there. The text is grey on grey, so you may have to look twice.

I selected all, to highlight everything on the page. Nothing new appeared.

Perhaps it's only enabled for the Administrators, or something. The select all box appears for actual private messages, but not for the receipts. For me, anyway.

I enabled a forum sidebar. It's supposed to keep users informed about updates in the CMS, blog and forum and people can choose to deflate it.

I think that will do it, thank you so much. I can now more reasonably delete those I don't need... I built up quite a few.

It's looking great, Tosa. Thanks so much for all the work you've been putting into this. I look forward to seeing what future improvements are coming.

A couple things I'd like to see available again (though no rush):
--I'm a fan of the RTW skin. The current one is a big step up for reading comfort from the blue and white, but eventually it'd be nice to have the RTW one back again.
--The quick navigation bar at the bottom of each page used to take you back to the closest subforum with a single click, or you could scroll through to pick another one out. Now the scrolling through is the only option, and with the backroom way down at the bottom, that can be a bit of a pain. I usually hit the button to go back to the top of the page, and then click on the backroom up there. It's an extra click and moment of waiting for each thread I look at. No biggie, but it'd be nice eventually to be able to go back to where I was from the end of the thread with one click.

Again, thanks for all the hard work, Tosa.

It's down the page in this version, together with another tool.

STW and RTW skin will return. It's taking longer than intended. The quick navigation is missing indeed. Odd, this is a standard feature.

Don't know whether it's something to do with the forum upgrade but in the social groups page I have options to leave from the group but also I can edit and delete groups that I created.
However, when I try to delete a group I created it says I don't have permission to do that.
So, do members have the permission to delete groups they created and the button is just buggy or they don't have the permission to do that?

Edit: Btw, I like that now I can see who currently are browsing the forum I'm on! ~:)

I'm using Internet Explorer 8.

This extra space is on all posts that start with a qoute. All other quotes are normal. The weird stuff on the side=sloppy paint use.

https://img716.imageshack.us/img716/4577/hugespace.jpg

I thought it have to do with quotes at first but it seens that the occational smilies not moving with spoiler is unrelated.
