View Full Version : Loyalty is my Honor
Well another change has occurred with WotRTW. Instead of bothering to choose between Hastings and Scrope I shelved all plans for that and did something else. The way the factions are set up, certain factions will represent the major players (York, Lancaster, Norfolk) at certain times in the history. These are based on aesthetic (color) concerns as well as factional and name considerations. Thus Norfolk is represented by Russia (Mowbray) and Novgorod (Howard), the Lancastrians by Beaufort, Courtenay, De Vere and Tudor (in that order) and - here's the change - the Yorkists by early Yorkist (Richard of York and Edward of March), late Yorkist (Richard of Gloucester) and Yorkist pretender (De la Pole and the Irish of Stoke). The advantage to this is I get to be specific as to which noble houses supported which side in different periods. The downside is that we won't see the flags of either Hastings or Scrope and Audley will have to room with the early Yorkists... still have to figure out how to do this... though its not too bad to have Audley there with the early Yorkists. I may not be able to put the figures of Sir Hugh Calveley of the Lea and Sir Hugh Venables of Kinderton, not to mention Lords Dudley and Audley... I'll figure it out. I may end up placing them with the Courtenays I don't know. Anyways, Aud and Dud turned coats (at least their sons did) after Eddie came to claim the throne so its not so bad. Main reason for this I guess was aesthetic. Early Yorkists take the place of France (blue) and late Yorkist take the place of England (red) - I really, REALLY wanted York to have the blue and murrey (or at least the blue) of Edward of March, while I confess I wanted to take advantage of the 'Guy of Gisbourne' appearance for the English and make him into Sir James Tyrrell (Princes of the Tower infamy) and I thought it would be nice to have both brothers represented in game. Like I said though, its at the cost of Hastings and perhaps the Audley faction. Is it worth it? What does everyone think?
Thanks,
Gloucester
Friendly I have no idea what your talking about http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif .
Can you make "special Characters" for each faction ?? If so ... HOW ?? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
I think that a more historical campaign would be fun to play. So go ahead and suprise us with your idea http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif .
Okay here's the problem. You only have so many factions actually in the game and no one's figured out to my knowledge how to create a new faction. Now, the French faction supplies the names for Burgundy and France and as originally planned these would be the Midland and Yorkshire nobles of England (under Audley and Scrope respectively). However, I decided to just make the French into early period Yorkists since I really wanted the Yorkists to have dark blue as per Edward of March's colors. The red English faction are late period Yorkists under the famous (or infamous) Richard III of Gloucester which eliminates the use of one faction for the minor nobility. The inherent problems are which names to use with the mod as Audley's midlanders were originally Lancastrian (enemies of Richard of Gloucester) though by the time of Dicky G they were on the Yorkist side for survival's sake. Anyways, I solved it. In my Richard III scenario Dicky G's faction will have lots of money, money, money but no troops or land except for his own holdings (like Middleham and York) and will have to 'bribe' the 'old Yorkists' (ex-French faction) under Lord Hastings, Chancellor of England. The Woodvilles (represented by the Grey faction - you'd be amazed how many Greys I found crawling out of the woodwork as it were - Greys of Chillingham, Ruthyn, Heaton, Groby, Codnor, Ampthill, etc, etc.), Stanleys (not as many found as the Greys but interesting nevertheless), Staffords (Buckingham's family), Percy's (what would a War of the Roses game be without them?) and Howards (Jockey of Norfolk be not so bold!http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif are likewise represented.
On the whole I'm very happy with the way the mod is progressing. With both Eddie of March and Dicky of G represented it won't be too hard for someone (Bullethead perhaps) to make battles like Barnet and Tewkesbury.
Regards all,
Gloucester
