trigonometry. i hate it. i hate it. I HATE IT!!!!!
i just failed a trig test. :daisy: it was so hard!
no matter how hard i study, i just cant get it!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
on the plus side i think ill do a parody of "heartbreak hotel" based on my experiences with trig.

O rly? Trigonometry is so easy, though...

o rlly? you think verification and solving of trig functions is easy?
knowing all those bajillion formulas to solve them?
im sorry, i dont think thats very fun or easy at all.
So, I'm starting to notice you rarely abuse ellipses...you should probably do that more often.

you should have seen me a few years ago......
i always used them...
probably more than i should have....

if it makes you feel better, I'm kicking ass in my honors algebra II class.

But trig is easy, PI. Just wait and see, you'll be astounded by its simplicity.

algebra 2? pshhhh thats easy. wait until you get to pre-calc.
oh sure, entry-level trig is easy.
wait until you get to the advanced stuff.
and MM, do me a favor and shut up, i need to vent.
You should just run up and kick someone hard in the shin if you want to vent. Then run away real quick like. Feels good man. Try to pick someone smaller than you though, so you don't get the crap beat out of you.

Eh, Calculus is overrated. My calculus classes were the last math classes I ever took and will ever need to take. Let me smile in joy. Smile with me, eh?
Do I hear someone insulting trig? :stare:

Calculus is easy. Monkeys could do it.
Is it derivatives and integrations of trig functions hooah?

yup, that and verifications.
What exactly are you finding hard about it/don't get?

truth be told, at first it seems easy, but when you start getting really long, complicated problems that take easily 10 minutes to do or more, you get REALLY frustrated.
i had a 10-problem test today i had to take in 40 minutes, all the problems were long and complicated.
do the math.
My advice would be, if you know the basics, figure out the required steps for each problem before you do each. Also don't feel overwhelmed, if you know the basic proofs then just be calm, figure out a plan of action and go.
Maybe you should practice longer more complicated problems and time yourself, or do them against a time limit so as to be able to do them faster. When studying you really should do some questions under exam conditions.

well theres no point now, the test is over and were moving on.
and its very hard to stay calm when you have a test to finish in 40 minutes.
argh.

If you're having trouble ask for help from the teacher. Does your school have student tutors? Keep plugging at it. Unless you like the thought of punching a time clock for a living...

Trig was the one thing in my math classes that never clicked for me. Algebra, no sweat. Geometry was a blast. Calculus was refreshing. Trigonometry was foreign and weird and depressing. Fortunately, I've really never had to do anything with it since high school. (and if I don't go into acoustics, I can probably keep it that way)

High school in America must be much more demanding, we didn't get any of that.

i have a tutor. we spend hours going over this stuff.

Ahh, I remember trig. The only reason I didn't stab my eyes out in that class is because my teacher was all kinds of awesome. He spoke math and I understood it. Plus, he looked like Dean Stockwell, which was pretty amusing (for those of us who grew up watching Quantum Leap!). If I had any other teacher, trig would have kicked my butt since I'm about as mathematically inclined as a rock. Definitely keep working with your tutor if your teacher is unhelpful.
I didn't have any problems with trig, and I didn't have any problems with calculus. But I never could remember all the formulas for integrals on the trig functions.

Don't worry Hooah, lot of people have problems with it. I hate it too (I cannot stand any math, for that matter - it is just that I loathe some topic more than others), although not as badly as geometry or calculus. Nor is it easy, but it is solveable, especially with a Ti-84 Plus. Do not forget about www.mathway.com either - very useful site.
Oh yeah, and ignore Meth, he is doing that on purpose...

Ugh. The only advanced math I like is statistics. The way I figure it if you have to start using letters it has ceased to become math.

not saying its easy, but thats like for minutes a problem. which, from how you are describing trigonometry, sounds fairly reasonable.
oooh! wait... you mean you were allowed 40 minutes to take the test itself? because in that case,....yeah, that sucks.

well, its over. my third (out of three) unit of trig is over. finally, with the completion of todays math test.
i most definitely failed the test due to a time restraint (45 minutes to do 15 Demoivre's Formula problems along with 20 other kinds of problems ranging from law of cosines to nth roots- insane!), but at least were over the hump and its downhill. matrices are FUN. and easy. :beam:
oh by the way, the retest brought up my 44 on my previous test to a 78. impressive, if i may say so myself.

At least you aren't paying for the privilege of failing at trig. I did not try very hard on my college's math placement test so I'm taking precalc again. My professor mumbles so I can't understand a word he's saying, and he has very poor cursive handwriting so I can't read anything he writes. Grrrrrrrr
On the plus side, college biology classes are all kinds of awesome.

Most of us tend to get off on a tangent.
Some people kill because of a sine from God.
Marriage is a contract you cosine.
