Will EB 2 strain computer performance?

My computer does a fine job on Rome Total War, and a fair job on Medieval Total War 2, but EB taxes it to the extreme, and at a certain point in it's campaigns will just CTD when I press end turn.

Will EB 2 be much harder on computers then Medieval Total War 2? I love the EB concept, and thought it was unbelievably fun while it lasted, but tech problems do hurt an otherwise wonderful mod.

You can test with a mod for M2TW.
Deus lo Vult for the scripts. Note: the CTD happens sometimes on DLV.
Rusichi for its wonderful units.
Stainless Steel 6.1 for a complete mod game. It's a good test.

Broken Crescent is also quite good.

M2TW at least is more stable then RTW, I've had a lot less CTD's.

That's for sure. I think the only game I play that's more CTD heavy than RTW is Morrowind.

On another note. My computer seems to lag heavily during siege battles in MTW2 but my specs (AMD2.6Ghz dual core oced to 2.8, 4gb ram, Geforce 7950GT) are well over recommended levels... I wonder if the latest patch will resolve this little issue?

I wouldn't hold your breath on that, I've always had lots of lag in large M2TW siege battles, despite the fact that a similarly sized field battle gives me no problems.

It's impossible to answer this question without knowing what kind of computer you have, eh? I have a 4 year old iMac and run M2TW mods (including our internal build) on it with no problem- but the larger the battle, the more lag, of course. My solution is large unit size, as opposed to huge, and that solves everything for me- I can max out all the graphics settings just as long as I keep the unit size at large. RAM upgrades can also help a lot.

I can't and/or won't give away anything about EB2 here, but we have of course observed some of the very script-heavy mods like DLV and SS, and have tried to mind some less complex solutions.

Eb2 will short-circuit your entire PC.:clown:

If you can run smoothly m2tw then you'll sure run Eb2 quite smoothly too however due to the new features added CTD might occur in certain situations...
