Is there a way to remove forests?

I'm having a lot of trouble orchestrating battles in forests because I simply can't see any units. It's really a pain in the derriere and no fun at all. Is there any way to tone down or remove the forests from the game while still keeping the forest bonus effects for units?

What do you mean by bonuses? The ambush-option on campaign-map? That should be as it was. Or the hiding-option on battlefield? They sure will hide in lower trees too.

Thanks a bunch. I did spend a good bit of time searching, but I kept getting results about tech "tree" and units that could hide in "forest" terrain.

As for the bonuses, I didn't want any change in them, I just wanted to be able to see my units :)
