View Full Version : Increase Army Unit Numbers?

Is there any way to increase the number of units in your army to over 20 units?

I'm seeing if I could do that for the AI, so the AI fields like 30-40 some units while I stick with the regular 20 unit stack...hopefully that'll be more of a challenge.

Also, does any know how to spawn units for the AI? I've been trying to do that for both generals and settlements, and it's been largely unsuccessful. (it keeps saying units don't exist - and I've tried using all the different unit names from the EB directory, or it just plainly doesn't work)

Furthermore, is there a way to instantly complete unit queues? I know there are codes for instantly creating buildings, and I've seen unit-build codes but they don't work in my version of RTW. I was hoping to take control of an enemy faction, queue up like 50 elite units, then go back to my regular faction and fight those AI elites...

As far as I'm aware there is not way to increase the number of units commanded.

I don't think there is any way to instantly complete unit queues, there is a cheat code, process_rq but it doesn't work now (I'm not sure if it ever did).

Occasionally I'll see an AI stack with 21 units in it, I have no idea how or why they do it though.

Naw. It's not possible with the RTW engine.

You miscounted. The army window in city and the one outside are laid out differently making you think there's more unit in that stack.

Just wait for the reinforcement to meet the main army. Surely they can control more than 20 just not spawn them all in the middle of field.

I do this all the time except late in the campaign when there's a big chance of after-battle ctd to happen. Use toggle_fow, calculate enemy movement and strength, adjust your stack accordingly.

Make all your armies 10 units and fight full stack AI armies. It would have the same effect.

Unfortunately, that would be bad for my unit diversity since it'd limit me to only 1-2 units of each type.

ie.my army typicall consists of - Greeks: hoplite, light hoplite, elite hoplite, spearmen/hvy spearmen, archer/slingers, cavalry, etc or Romans: trari, principes, hastati, skirmishers, cavalry, mercs, samnites, pedite, etc

If I only had 10 unit slots, I'd either only have 1-2 units each or cut out some of my favorite units. I'd rather have 20 unit types and be outnumbered while still maintaining diversity.
