King David,

I noticed you had added an update patch to the files you uploaded here at the Org
(which i included in the bundled download i placed here)

Following leads in your readme files i found the fileplanet download of the map tex files,
(took 4 hours waiting in queue to get)

NOW, i have a few patch maker utilities i use,
and running your camelot mod against a clean copy i have been able to compress the entire 50MB download into a 7.5MB patch, (maptex files included)

BUT before i upload that patch i need to know,
does your update need to be applied to the fileplanet download?

AND if i upload it to a private folder could you download the patch and test it at your end to ensure it works as expected? THEN i will upload your mod patch.
(it being your mod you are the most qualified to spot anything going wrong)

ALSO i will provide you with a restore patch, allowing you to go back to the "clean" install of medieval.
I WILL NEED you to check the restore files against your originals to see if there is any difference between our two versions, i have asia/pacific english language version.

I do NOT expect there to be any differences between the English language versions, because the v1.1 patch was suitable for all versions(as far as i know), i would just like to be sure,

(one benefit of the particular patch maker i use is it has an auto backup feature, although the user needs to restore from the backup manually)

contact me asap at barocca_x@hotmail.com,
or reply through instant messenger on this board which will auto generate an email if i am unavailable
(a very handy feature IMHO)

Wow That would be great.. The patch you have has to be applyed to the fullversion with maps. I realy apreciate this since it was my original intent for the downloaders of the mod to get a historical sence of camelot and the other legendary celtic regions in England at that time. The mod was incomplete without those maps and I apreciate your help. AS far as this being my mod, well I want it to be everyones Mod. Camelot still has a long ways to go. It is not done yet because there are MTW moders here who can add things to it and come up with new ideas for additional units and factions. Morgana, Mordred, Merlin and Arthur are just the beginning. I am still researching to see what other factions or units we can add to Camelot. Many thanks to Barocca, Lord Krazy, LBA, Declare4 and those who responded to the creation of Camelot.

KD,
does the mordred faction get added before or after i add the names fix patch?

ALSO
do i need to remove all the standard portraits?
or have you "forced" your mod to only use the ones you supply?

thanks

I would add the mordred Faction and then Add the name fix just to be safe. I think the Mordred faction has the old name file in the loc\eng folder so yes I would apply the patch after adding Mordred. It was after I had uploaded The mordred faction that I discovered the problem while on gameplay.

If you want to get the intended effect of the Merlin faction, I would advice replacing all those ugly popes with just the Merlin files provided. But you dont have to, You can play the mod without adding the two Warlock pictures that came with the mod. With the mordred addon faction you must replace all the male portraits of the Bizzantine kings with just the portrait of that delicious Morgana lafey. The original generals can remain in their folder or be replaced By the Mordred generals provided with the mod. It will work eigther way. The Mod will also work with the original Early, Late and High period campaigns or existing moded campaigns. Have you played it yet ? I did no modification of the Unitprod files or the building files, that I leave to the experts. All i have is the default word program that comes with windows and I dont do too much tweaking there yet.

Very nice. I hardly knew anything about Arthur Pendragon until I got the idea to make the mod and started doing research on this man and legend. It helped me understand a little more about the celtics and the british culture wich has always facinated me. Arthur the man did not have it so easy as we see in the movies (Excalibur showing tomorrow on our cable system) And so I can relate to Him in many levels now that I have come to know him. The names of the camelot clan honor the knights in Arthurs' realm.

http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/shock.gif Is there anywhere else other than FilePlanet to download the Camelot map texture files?

That's all I need to play. Eager with anticipation to see it

I am just running a patch maker across all the files now,
i have maximum compression enabled, and it shrinks the whole mod to 1.1 MB
(this includes the maptex files)

the only thing is it takes several hours to make each patch in order to get them that small, and i have to make an undo patch as well,

it's 5am here,
and the undo patch is half compiled, but i have to go out very very soon, when i get home i will run a quick test and then upload to the org - hopefully that will be about 8 hours from now. (is now 6:56pm GMT)

You can download it from here in the files section. Barocca was kind enough to add a few things like a custom game intro and the maps.

give me five minutes and ill upload the install,
NO DOCUMENTATION YET,
this is just for you to test

just run the exe and follow the directions,
there is an option to make a backup DO SO,
the backup will be in a folder in your medievl game directory,
to restore game simply copy all the folders in the backup directory back into the game folder and choose to overwrite all.

Camelot Install Mod - no documentation - testing variant (http://www.totalwar.org//Downloads/MTW/Stats/KD_CamelotMod_Setup.exe)

NOW
Accept the lisence agreement, it's nothing, you send the org your first born son and all that, ;)
Accept the backup option,
The install will try to open a readme file at the end of install that does not ecxist, thats a bug in the patchmaker that i can't get around,

if anything does not behave please tell me and i will try to fix, but it behaves fine here, this is for the english language version.

there is a file called Readmenow.txt in the root directory of the game after install, it's a good idea to have a read.

as i said the installer makes a backup folder in the root directory of the game called PatchWise.bak,
this folder has the originals of all the files changed for Camelot,
simply copy the contents of that folder back into the main directory to restore to normal. (accept overwrite all to restore)

one more point to note
the licence doc during install is the wrong one
i accidently imported the wrong file
i'll fix that for the final version later today
:D

hey it's 5am here - i'm getting sleepy
:D

Pretty impressive Increadible how fast it downloaded on my 56k modem. Ok, there was one thing I found that was wrong. The Campmap\Startpos\Camelot file dint show up on my campaign selection screen. I replaced the one your patch program downloaded with my copy and it worked. I will send you the working Camelot (Early Era) File so you can add it on to the patch program. Here is the link were you can get it. Actualy its in your upload section now.

The Camelot Install program put together by Barocca is being fine tuned as I write you this. Barocca will be adding the finishing touches to it very soon (He is probably sleeping now) It is 5pm here. But once that is done you can downloaded from the link provided by barocca. I just sent a file to him that he will be adding to the install program. He has been a great help in this endeavor. Now if i could just get lord krazys attention long enough (He is a busy man) To get me the roman units for another addon faction I would be a happy camper.. Jejeje

[B]Does Barocca ever sleep? Thanks.. I updated a few things in this updated campaign file:

Cranked up Region Incomes
Higher rank, Accumen, Dread and Piety for better AI Play in most regions.
Mongol Horde is playable and for some reason the rebels are quite Agressive, Recomend play in expert level.
There is always room for improvement.
Possible Faction Addons would be:
The Picts: These were pre scotish faction scotland
Knights from Gaul or Gaulish Knights
Imperial Romans to replace Sicilians Bottom part of the boot
led by Claudious
Visigoths from around Iberia (Spain)
Angles: Danish faction around denmark
Franks: French
Anglo-Saxons or Saxons Germanic faction led by Cerdic
Im always looking for new ideas tho...
