SPANKING, we have a fetish for SPANKING? That's it?
I'm sorry, but that's just not good enough! What sort of vice is that? It's barely a fetish for Pete's sake.
The actual English vice is drunkenness, traditionally with bear. Every description of the English for 1200 years, both friendly and hostile, has included it.

Very right. I've never read an account of the English that didn't involve them getting regularly drunk with a bear.
Bears, in whatever state of inebriation - it's one another of those British eccentricities that I'm not sure I want to know more about.

Leave Kitney alone!
She isn't really called that.
I don't know about promiscuity, but I have lain with an ethnically English lass from the green and pleasant land. Do I get a candy or a sticker?
What does that mean? A lot of americans could be ethnically english, it doesn't make them english though.
Who knew english women were in such demand abroad, we'll run out soon enough! Lucky I already go out with one then.:2thumbsup:
Also british people are the only promiscuous ones, most of the spanish people I've met have been at it like rabbits! and the norwegians, swedes and germans, oddly french people not so much (maybe I've just had a poor experience so far).

As far as Scandanavians and promiscuity goes, don't even get me started.
I blame the bad sex education that teaches them condoms are 100% effective.

It's not really that much better in the UK though, is it? Condoms on bananas, 1970s sex education video tapes (who even uses VHS these days?!), awkward talks and even more awkward questions... ¬_¬
The strangest thing I heard is that Swedish people hate touching. Give your friend a hug? BIG NO NO in Sweden. (according to Swedish people I know, females at that. Guys never hug eachother anyway, only a pat on the back.)

Actually my school was pretty good about it, we got a nice little dildo to put the condoms on and we weren't allowed to leave until we'd done it, our video's were from the early 90's (only a slight improvement) and our talks were pretty detailed (did I need to know what anal sex, shirmping or felching was when I was 12? nope, but they told us anyway).
From what I gather though this isn't the norm in britain.

Not that i disagree with what you're saying. I had a friend in high school who I loved to creep out whenver he was on the computer. I would set my hand on top of the one he used to operate the mouse and give him a sultry look every chance I got. And in case there was any confusion, me giving someone a sultry look is genuinely horrifying.

Is this also why you are attacking celibate clerics particularly voraciously at the moment? We've all been there; an achingly attractive woman who is infurriatingly unavalalbe. In my case last time she was also living with my closest female friend. This just made it worse, or course.

Is it manly to watch a girlie show you don't like just to date a girl?
No.
A man doesn't watch a lame television show just to have something to talk about, he goes out and does manly and interesting things and then talks about that.
As for the "greek" system - gah. I met some frat guys in college who only talked about parties and how their hookah machine was a "panty-dropper"* and lauded the guy who scored twice in one night, and gave the guy who got a girlfriend a bunch of grief because then he couldn't just have sex with any girl. I believe some people used the term 'man-whore'. And some sorority girls (there was a meaner nickname for them at my university) mirrored that. I met one who flirted with me, but seemed, well, to not have a lot of intellectual depth. Plus her personality was grating.
Of course I met people who defied those stereotypes, and I'm sure most people in the greek system aren't just stereotypes.
...
Oddly enough, I saw a 'Bimbo' branded truck the other day as I went skiing. If I hadn't read on the Org about them, I really would've been confused.
Ah, and what is really terrible, in terms of 'educational tapes', is one I had to watch in class that looked like a 90s holdover, with a blank whitish background, 20 somethings dressed in pastel colored, no pattern, clothes, speaking eagerly about bodily functions like they were on Barney, and using slang that showed the writers had no idea what they were talking about.
CR
*Who would want to be with someone who put out because of a hookah machine?

With respect, I think you're abusing the privilage of being a woman conversing with lonely men.
Although, more seriously, I do wonder if women moon over men in the same painful way men moon over women; or if it is somehow different.

It is similar in a way, yes. But whereas you might discuss it over a pint down in your local with a few mates, I always end up doing it while wearing pyjamas, curled up watching films and eating alot of snacks with friends. xD

Ah yes, the beer/chocolate divide. How could I forget that? I must be honest though, I think quite a few men are likely to find another woman to pour their heart out to over a cup of tea. Pub talk is rarely so candid, except with your best friends.
That is a shame, because she seems like a nice girl. :3
Well, the way I look at it, I only need one girlfriend, but I know a lot of women and it's nice to have friends; especially since I find most men somewhat boring. I find women generally more interesting; you seem to form more complex relationships for one thing.

That situation will not end well. If you like her, she either knows and wants to ask you out; or she's ignoring it and if you ask her out it your relationship will explode.

Try it anyway, women think differently, she might be waiting for you to make a move for while. if she doesn't like people who like her she may just be very shy, but not with you it seems. In my experience you can only really be friends with a woman if she's taken, or your ex. You might have something good going here don't waste it.

well, she is very shy in general. i mean, she rarely talks in person. even to her close friends.
but everynow and then her awesome personality will rise up and she'll talk around others.
and no, shes not the bass girl in the photo i posted.
that girl actually broke up with her BF a month ago. the reason, at least from what we can tell? her BF is, well lets just say "immature" when it comes to relationships.
in english, the problem was that her BF didnt like hugging, kissing, or displaying any sort of affection. probably because he wasnt at that stage yet when his GF was waaaaaay ahead of him. anyhow, im not going near her, dont want to open up any wounds.

Show her your own vulnerability, we all are vulnerable somewhere somehow some way, just open up to her so she knows she's not alone. For some people it's affection and the potential loss of it, they keep a distance 'nobody understands me'. To me it sounds that she likes you, I wouldn't be all too concerned about the 'you as well?' response.

Her mouth says no, but her lip gloss says yes (http://www.salon.com/life/broadsheet/2010/03/18/mood_lip_gloss/index.html)
Who needs enthusiastic consent when cosmetics can tell you if she's in the mood?
By Kate Harding (http://www.salon.com/author/kate_harding/index.html)
So, here's the worst idea I've heard all week: Lip gloss (http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/2892128/Sex-tonight-Read-her-lips.html) that lets everyone around you know you're horny. "The saucy slap changes from clear to deep crimson as the wearer feels frisky," reports The Sun. "It works by reacting with a girl's body chemistry. And each £12 tube comes with a colour chart so men can work out how randy their partner is feeling."

Oh, that really sucks. It took a lot of courage for you to come out and be honest with her, and it's commendable that you took that risk.
The whole "I just want to be friends" thing hurts deeply no matter what gender you are, and it doesn't get any easier the more you hear it, no matter what anyone says. I sincerely hope that your friendship is not harmed as a result of this, and hope that she can see past your admission and see that you want her in your life in whatever capacity possible, even if it is just as a friend.
Be strong, don't take it too personally and just remember that there is always someone out there for you; you have your whole life to find that special someone. Keep your chin up. :3

exact reaction:
prelude- she also told me she wasnt going to go with me to the banquet, which upset me.
me: fine, if u guess ill tell you
her: akiva
me: no, actually, ill call u with the name- its more proper
her: no its k
me: well i think id better tell u one-on-one
her: y
me: b/c
her: is it u
me: ..
her: ?
me: ya- i originally wrote the "someone else likes you" because i wasnt thinking, then after i realized my mistake i tried to cover it up, sorry, hope u arent mad or anything
her: nope
me: thank god, we can still be friends, right? i value that the most
her: mhm
me: wow i cant believe i just told u. no one else knows that besides u,and i intend to keep it that way, i also wanted to ask you to awards banquet, but i knew that david would want to ask you but i did it anyhow
her: i wish ppl didnt go with dates
me: well i wanted to go with u as a friend, and put my like for you aside, its easy for me to do that, honestly, id rather us be friends
forget it. i seriously regret telling u. and now u know why i didnt want to tell u
her: why u regret it? ill just pretend like it didnt happen
me: please? anyhow, lets just forget this episode, shall we?
her: already on that
me: good!
im pretty sure i messed something up along the way.
Wait, so she decided not to attend the awards banquet with you before you admitted you liked her? That's odd... is there any reason why?
I don't really think you could have put that any better considering the circumstances (close friendship, nerves etc), but her responses seem... abrupt. I think she's genuinely surprised by your admission... that isn't necessarily a bad thing, though. Don't even remotely consider that you messed something up; anyone here, male or female, would have taken those steps too if it meant being happy, myself included. You should be pleased that you had the courage to go for it. Nobody even wins the lottery if they don't buy a ticket.
Anyways, do not force the issue, if anyone is going to mention the situation, let it be her. In the meantime, just ensure that you remain friends, that you keep doing the same stuff without any awkward sentiments and see what happens from there.
The trick is to expect/accept it in advance. It's a perfectly reasonable and honest response, I don't expect to be the greatest man for the woman of my choice, if a woman tells me she just wants to be friends I appreciate it, of course it won't make me happy but life goes on and I can still find others, somewhere, perhaps, if I'm lucky...
Think of a "relationship"(in the non-platonic sense) as the cherry on the cake that your friendship already is, it's perfectly possible to enjoy this cake without it.
Personally, I don't like cherries anyway but that's for another thread.

not quite sure. i definitly showed my dissapointment, then we began talking about liking people, then one thing led to another, and BAM.
If at all possible, do one of her friends now, if not sooner.
This could just be the leftover Murphy's Stout talking, but I still hold this to be sound advice. At best, it messes with her perceptions and gets her thinking about you. At worst, hey, at least you got some.

So the girl going with someone else... are we talking about your friend who you revealed to over Instant Messaging? That's totally not a nice move by her, she sounds like a Mean Girl.
If that is the case, then I'm afraid to say that anything's fair game; if you can find someone else to go with, do so. But make sure it's someone you can stand to dance with or give a kiss or whatnot... and not just someone to use as a trophy to make this other girl jealous.

But you are all identical.
And so are we men. We're all humans, to say you are different is racism.
Some are more identical then others though
But you are all identical.
Aside of having boobs and a bajingo, what makes all women identical? We don't all behave the same, we don't share the same interests, we don't all have the same physical/mental aptitudes for things. I'm not identical to... say Cheryl Cole in the slightest way beyond the fact we have the same anatomical features, for example.
My point was that you generalised your own point and said that "women don't know what they want" when that is not the case for every single woman the world over, is it?
Generalisation is bad, mmmkay?
And so are we men.
I'd never tar you all with the same brush, either. Each and every person is unique.

Hey ressurecto?
Dear advice Strike,
Is it unmanly to have talked your way out of sex accidentally?
From, Orlando Michael Green
well, before i ask her out, i am a bit concerned that im getting the wrong vibe from all this. maybe it was just playful flirting, not anything serious.
argh, why are women so complicated?
Sweetest way to die. You will never understand what's going on up there so don't even try, women truly think differently. Just remember rule #1 : No that's not hilarious it's armageddon, NEVER prank chicks no matter how good an idea it is they will never forgive you, ever.

Dear tounge tied in Oz,
Unmanly? No. A lack of foresight? Yes.
Now there is the off chance the woman is attracted by you playing hard to get or she likes you so much she'll fancy herself another go. In all likely hood though her advances will slow or stop all togethor and you will have to bury this missed oppurtunity deep inside your feelings cave.
Remember to lock the cave though. Lest you share any of those feelings

Dear advice Strike,
I fear I may not have been entirely truthful regarding who this lady is. She is the one from Episode 1-3 of my threads. She is also leaving the country tomorrow. Should I attempt a rendezvous?

Dear Untruthful Ozzie,
By all means smash that. Now this probably requries you to profess some sort of feeling which can either be truthful or a lie, after all this girls put you through it really doesn't matter.
What really matters is if you want to deal with her crazy arse once she gets back to Oz of course if shes leaving forever do whatever you want to her you wont be seeing her again.

I'm sorry advice Strike,
I failed you. I tried, but she left for the airport so much earlier than she needed to. I got recompense though, as yesterday (friday) I thought she was leaving, she said no, saturday. I get a text message an hour before she is meant to board the plane:
"So it turns out our flight was yesterday."
Yes. Wrong day. International flight to England. She got another ticket and is currently 3 hours towards England, and with any luck, I will never see her again.

Out of sight, out of mind
You were to good for here anyway
So is life. Keep your head up for you will never find another appeal if your eyes are forever cast downward.
But I like to pick up chicks
You can still pick them up...just try not to carry them any farther than they want to go...

Chicks are not complicated. It's just their incomprehensible way of demonstrating during some progress. In the end it turns out to be something predictable all the way from the start.
If you give all "incomprehensible" the value "x", you'll be amazed to see that they are no more than the most basic calculations.
No, they are simple. Give up on that "zomg them so komplikats" attitude. Never mind the progress, you'll get a very familiar and predictable result.

To a degree, perhaps?
Doesn't help when you break into new territory though.

Sorry, it was meant for an explanation, not a solution 'cause there is not.
Don't act in a feminine manner if there's something you should force yourself with. Be yourself and let the game roll. She won't like you if she won't like you anyway. Every one on the planet has someone meant to be the partner. Don't push the panic button.
