I am strongly considering switching from using spybot s+d, avast! and adaware to Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes. Both have decent reviews. So far, both seem to be very stable and MSE uses VERY few resources, unlike avast! and spybot which both use up enormous amounts. Also, Malwarebytes does not crash when I try to update it, unlike adaware. Anyone else have a good word?
My understanding was the S&D is something that's well past its prime. I now recommend SuperAntiSpyware to people. As for Avast!.... I never liked it.
MSE sounds pretty good, but I'm going to let more people test it for me before I consider switching. :grin3:

I run AVG, superantispyware and malwarebytes. I'm happy. (FF with adblock as well)

I like how it plugs browser gaps. But, I recently got rid of it, just too clunky. I'd end up stopping it when music/graphic editing and turning off my wifi signal. :beam:

I stopped using AVG a long time ago because it took up too many resources and missed a lot. Also, there were a couple of false positives that would not go away.

I've only come into AVG in the last year or so, but I havent noticed that.
Then again, coming from a Norton background, everything else seems to run like butter...

That's probably because Norton is one of the worst programs out there. Ever.

Good call on the Superantispyware. Downloaded and ran it. It found some trojans Spybot S&D hadn't - and one of the items I had noticed in startup and was questioning where it came from after noting poor PC performance over the last couple of days. I've been running Adaware and S&D for a few years and all they ever found was tracking cookies. I was beginning to question whether there was really nothing or they weren't finding things they should. Well, out with the old, in with the new. :2thumbsup:

I've had the same experience with Superantispyware recently, after reading this thread. Thanks for the tip, and the discussion.
