Alas poor PS3, I hardly knew him!

So, my PS3 got the yellow light of death, and i cannot fix it. and it decided to do this the friday leading into a 3 day weekend.

in addition to this, I had a horrendous day at school, so all-in-all the only good part of this day was that I....actually there was no good part of this day. it was entirely horrible. My heart is crushed, my stomach is empty, I'm sleep depraved, I unwittingly looked at someones phone to see a picture of him naked (uuuugh...), and i cant tell you how many other little things have pissed me off today.

so now.....well....i guess its back to fallout 3 PC.....and God of War III comes out in 4 days!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh my god i hate this. nobody knows how to fix it thats not on youtube do they? I'm not sure if my grandma wants to pay $150 to get this damn thing fixed, especially when microsoft fixes their screw-up for free. i guess i can say goodbye to that paintball gun for my birthday...and everything else i might have gotten. might not be so bad if we werent moving in june......

*sigh.....................*

Out of warranty? That sucks. I got the dreaded red ring on my xbox a few days ago, but luckily I'm still under warranty.

How to fix part 1. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U70SgRDVcBo)

While only a small number of PS3's have this issue so far I think it is telling that Sony are basically shafting their customers who do get this issue. If Microsoft is beating you at customer service you aren't doing very well.

I tried looking at that. with the heat gun and all that stuff I'm 99% sure I couldnt do it.

I'm going to try and see how much gamestop would buy it for, if they would get my game out, and if that amount is sufficient to buy another playstation. dont even care if its used with only 20GB, its still a PS3 and thats all that matters. I know if I spend the $150 to fix it it will take like 6 weeks to get it back, and I've heard sometimes longer. though going into summer time, people are playing less and thus they may not be so swamped.

and yes, i agree, when microsoft beats you at customer service, you need to change something. Especially when one has to pay $150 to fix an error that is the company's fault.

I have one but I'm not allowed to play unless expressly told I can, whereas I can play the PS3 whenever I please.

i know. it might have to do with the fact that Xbox takes up the 55 inch HDTV in 1080p in the living room, as well as a surroudn sound stereo system. maybe its just too inconvenient to come upstairs to my room to make me get off the PS3. i dont know. thats just how it is.

put in the service request today, ETA from the entire process is about a month the people said, so i have enough time to get to level 70 on the Xbox MW2 finally. i guess thats good.

I've still got my old 60gb PS3, and I'll be damned if I trade it in for something else. It stopped reading disks twice in the course of its life, but that was attributed to a dusty blu-ray lens. Thankfully, I know enough about screws and connectors to fix the problem myself instead of paying 150 dollars to have it repaired.

I'm lucky. Had my PS3 for over a year, leave the thing running sometimes for days at a time, never had a problem.
