So to begin with, i was facing this Mongol army bearing down on my city. i have Medium size garison, plus a full stack army racing to the rescue and was nearby. so it laid siege to the city and then, assaulted it. I was confident that my garrison can hold the wall for a time while waiting for the reinforcement to arrive. As usual there's this flying camera view, but guess what? there's no Deploy Unit options, it only gived start battle. puzzled i just click it anyway. It's presposterous!! My units was scattered throughout the huge city. Only a token force was there at the part of the wall where the attack coming from and all the archers was at the opposite side of the wall. But no panicky. my ballista towers can light up those rams and my Azabs can hold the wall against those ladder while i moved those Ottoman Infantries and Dismounted Sipahi Lancers from the opposite side of the wall, hopefully, they'll not be too tired runnig from one side to the other. And so the battle commence. All the Mongol rams was lighted up, their ladder infantries was contained by the azabs and later on by the DSL and OI. Then, the long awaited reinforcement arrived, Hurrah!! first the OI groups emerged from the border. 3 units of Mongol Heavy Archers headed toward the newly arrived units and a missile duel ensued. Since my Azabs, DSL and OI seems to had the wall under control, i move the camera towards the newly arrived reinforcements and prepare it for assault. then as i busy reorganized the renforcements, i noticed that a my General was in battle. What the.... i thought i kept him far behind the wall and some distance away from the gate. The unit size reduce rapidly, the general was overwhelmed. And then almost all the infantry on the wall routed all of a sudden. i move my camera back into the city and there you go, For some unknown reason, the gate opened up and Mongol units rushed in and overwhelmed the defenders. I check the wall and none of the Mongol infantry made it to the gatehouse. So what the Frack? Since i don't want to drag the reinforcements into a siege i withdraw the reinforcements. and after some resistance at the city square, the city was taken. Is this a glitch, or is this a deliberate design by the game? I haven't even started yet about my fight with the Timurids. there's a cheat there too.

This sounds to me like a battle gone wrong rather than a glitch or a cheat. Possibly your attention was taken away from the battle for the city long enough for the enemy to really take hold of the walls and gate while you had your attention focused on your reinforcements. Losing your General in Siege defense can account for a huge morale drop.

Usually, there's this Start deployment option before battle, there's none here. And how the hell did the gate swung open? i have my units left and right of the gatehouse and it wasn't breach either.

Not sure but there must be certain instances when you do not have the time to deploy - I wouldn't go as far as to say the computer cheats. I have had that happen several times.

As for the gate, I can only summise that there may have possibly have been a remnant of one of your units close by the gate, tried to get out due to bad mapping. Once that would have occurred without be ultra quick you would never of got that closed.

There is no glitch Fadly, clearly an enemy spy sabotaged your gates so Mongols caught you unprepared.

Thats because;
* You had no unit deployment time.
* Your troops protecting the gates all around the city.
* Your gates opened to the enemy,
* Your troops had morale penalty (like in ambushes) so they routed real quick.

Those are certain symptoms of a city infected by an enemy spy. And it is like that since Rome Total War.

But i wanna add that the computer really cheats on recruitments, money issues, number of populations...

Of course, good answer! I forgot all about spies. makes 100% sense.
