In short, I'm beginning a Getai game, and I am extremely curious about these people and their ancestors. I know a little, or at least as much as Herodotus tells us, about the customs of the Thracians, but I want to know so much more. For example, is the claim that Thracians covered their bodies in tatoos and sold their daughters in slavery remotely reliable? Both sound like the type of generalizations Herodotus is apt to make.

Any links or reading material you can recommend would be great.

I'm particularly interested, at least for now, in the Ktistai, including their manner and customs.

Of course, if anyone our local Getai-Thracian experts wants to share their thoughts here, I would be extremely grateful.

Thank you

I am certainly no expert historian on the Getai-Thracian field, but if you are looking for reading material about the I suggest the EB bibliography!

One of the books from the Getai/Thrace section will surely satisfy your needs!
