View Full Version : Ads inside posts??!!
I noticed in this thread (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?127129-Distant-Worlds-A-new-4x-space-strategy-game) I just started in the Arena that there appears to be an ad inside the OP. I myself was able to disable it since I use FireFox (I believe the blocked application was something like "integri.net"), but I strongly suspect IE users won't be so fortunate.
This needs to be stopped. Having ads show up in our posts is completely unacceptable.
Along the side? Yes, I didn't actually see it because the ad was already on my blocklist (the AdBlock extension, Firefox), but I could still see the frame and the big gab along the side.
It's most certainly disruptive. I agree with you Martok.
I can't actually see any ad (using IE); but there is indeed some white space in your post.

Those large empty spaces annoy me too!
I've noticed some large empty spaces myself, but no ads.
Here (http://arstechnica.com/business/news/2010/03/why-ad-blocking-is-devastating-to-the-sites-you-love.ars)'s an article I wanted to post on the subject anyway, ads inside posts are kinda wrong though.

I believe the site is hosted by atomicgamer.com. The ads are probably an unfortunate reality of maintaining a site such as this - i.e. it's not free.
BTW, I cannot actually see any ads in the post you linked to.
I strongly suspect IE users won't be so fortunate.
They need to get a better browser and/or utilise blocking/noscript/adblock, etc.

My fault,
Sorry. I toyed with the new admanager and this one popped up at the wrong place. It should be disabled now.

Don't apologize, toes. Most of us are extremely grateful for the work you've done so far; don't let Martok bring you down like this, ok?
I'm not brought down Megas Methuselah.
You could make this optional, posters could allow ads in their posts, enter a PayPal account and get 50% share of the revenue for ads in their posts. ~D
