Hi everyone!
I could not see any suggestions about soundtracks in the forums. As a very fan of Loreena McKennitt i must suggest her. She is fantastic and has a divine talent. She could compose every type of soundtrack for every type of game and movie. Ofcourse i wont suggest her to compose new music for EBII but at least we could use one of her great instrumental songs. She has many songs that could fit to EBII and ancient times...

EB1 already has fantastic music, so I presume they are going to use it again.

Everytime I hear her it reminds me of Highlander (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55Zy8VPFP-E)..... :beam:

No offense, I like her too, but imo her music fits medieval times or fantasy universes better, and I don't think we have the right to use copyrighted music witout the author's consent...

Yeah, no offense to her, but I think it would be hard to top the music the EB team has now. Just. Plain. Awesome. -M

If EB team includes some new music then fine.
If not then it's not that big problem also.

I really don't mind what music the EB Team puts in the game. I rarely turn up the volume much beyond "0" mark.

Comparing to music, I'm more concerned about sound effect of certain troops.
For example, I remember once reading somewhere that the legions of Republic would march towards the enemy singing their battle song, while the Imperial Legions would keep their intimidating silence until charge into the enemy ranks with a war cry.

...with a war cry
Reminded me of barbarians.

Loreena McKennitt does not recreate ancient Celtic music. It's not even remotely Celtic. Bagpipes, harps, tin whistles, bodhráns and such things were not in use at all around 250 BC in western Europe.

Not only the barbarians had war cries...
There're many instances in Livy's History of Rome where Roman battle cries got mentioned.
And I believe there was some kind of a custom of battle cry competition before the battle is joined. Once the Romans losed this competition, hence their enemy discovered, and the Romans themselves knew that they were less eager to fight than their enemy this time, which was a rare thing of couse, which demoralized the Romans while encouraged their enemy and the battle was doomed for Romans.

warcry give the hardcoded 10 bonus to attack and 5 bonus to morale for 30 seconds....

So tell me, did you suggest the Romans have "warcry" available and not including testudo? :clown:

A little off topic here, but I'm curious, and from what I've seen of you in the frontroom I think you would know; do you know anyone who *does* do actual Celtic music? I know McKennitt and her like are more New Age than Celtic, and I like that, but I would like to know more about traditional folk music too.

Oh, and a general question to the devs; is there any chance of seeing more of Nick Wylie and Morgan Casey's music in EBII? I'm guessing not, but I really like their work, so one can hope.

No, actually, I was just talking about my expectations of better battlefield atmosphere...

Press F for War Cry. Press Alt-F4 for Roman Cry Baby. Darn I can't do a Cute Wolf impression! Vanilla is the most accurate game known to mankind, and thus only Gauls, Brits, and the lot have War Cry.

This is difficult. Real Celtic music is difficult to reconstruct because I don't think there's a lot of information on what kind of musical instruments they used and probably even less about the way they played. We know a lot more about medieval music, though.

This has to be the weirdest thread title ever for an EB forum...
