I have some problems with handling the unitprod file. I get bugs when I import it into excel and save the result as tab txt. I do have the original excel files made by CA, but those contain quite some formulas (it's not directly possible to change unitcost).

I've copied each column of the original excel file and pasted the values into a new sheet. Unfortunately the textfile saved from that is quite a bit smaller than the default one and prevents MTW to start at all.

The other thing is that one has to wade through heaps of info that's not relevant for MP stats, but campaign 'only'.

Is there, or can anyone make, a tool that seperates info about a unit into some 3 sections (tabs)? Info related to the actual fighting ability of the unit, info related to cost, availabilty (era, faction) and size and info about campaign prequisites.

To CA:
is it possible to post the updated 1.1 excel files? Is it possible to convert the final sheet to one that contains values only? That would help a lot with changing values.

Thanks in advance.

I'll ask our Stats Badger about this tomorrow.

tosa,

i've also found bugs in using excel for some of the files. i've mostly just gone back to editing in wordpad. sometimes i open both and use the excel for reference and edit in wordpad, but you'd need a duplicate copy to open one in one and one in the other. excel also truncates some of the fields, making it difficult to read all that is really there. it's prolly possible to re-format the various cells, or columns or rows to make them more readable, but i'm not sure how that save and work as far as the game is concerned, so i havent bothered trying it yet. you get used to sorting things in your head when using wordpad, so it's not too bad for most things.

Stats Badger says that the game parses the labels from the files, not just the values, so you can't have a values-only file. That's assuming we correctly understand what you were asking.

Appearing in uploads directory any moment now will be the v1.1 .xls files... if I can figure out the upload mechanism, that is :)

Update: right, done... but I forgot to include a descriptive text file, sorry admins... the moment I saw the form my finger memory took over and the file was uploading before I'd read the instructions ;-)

The file is called v11statsfiles.zip and contains crusader_build_prod13.xls and crusaders_unit_prod11.xls.

That's right Kraellin. That's why you have to use the original excel files by CA. And save as tab txt.

Thanks GilJaysmith.

Yes that was what I was asking for. Having the 1.1 files will be a great help, thanks.

I would also be interested in downloading the CA Excel files. I did not have any success either using Excel to make mods no matter what I did. Now I open and read the files in Excel so I can understand the spacing learn what and where the various factors are and then perform the mod itself using wordpad.
It would be very difficult to attempt a stats mod without using Excel to space out the individual items initially.

I don't understand.
What is the problem?
I copied the 1.1 version into the CA excel
tool and it works fine.
