It should be legal to murder you in the face.

Things that are ok in the biblioteca:

Vibrating
Texting

Things that are NOT ok in the biblioteca:

Kei$shas Tik-Tok as your ringtone (This actually goes for always)
Any noise on your phone (including the button noise when you text)
You answering your phone while I'm trying to do Statistics

People are slaves to the machine Strike. It's like Pavlov's dogs - the thing rings, they answer no matter the situation. It is rather sad.

It's always embarrassing if I forgot to put my phone on vibrate before entering a library, theater, etc. But obviously the correct response if it does go off is to send it to voicemail as quickly as possible.

Am I the only person who visualised people shaking in their seats? Maybe I'm in too light hearted a mood today.

Obnoxious ringtone + answering it + being in library = instant death by mob action

At my Uni library, the busier it is, the more peaceful it is. If there's just a couple of people, sometimes they will start chatting and eating or whatever. When there's more people, they know they face a mob lynching, so they shut up.

The undergrad library here has the advantage of being underground and impervious to cell phone signals.

Haha damn, I hated that class. But heeey, at least I didn't need to resort to murdering anybody "in the face." :laugh4:

I suspect, like me, you put it on "silent", that's why.

That's all I had to do to make you start hating me? Much easier than most people.

But yeah I answer teh phone if I am called, but whisper very softly "I'm in the library, can't talk." My phone went off in a lecture the other day... that was awkward.

Could be worse, forgot to put it of at a classical concert, got some very angry looks, if my head would be any more red it would probably have exploded.

This is also a capital offense. But the judicial murder should be carried out very, very quietly (smothering with a seat cushion for example) unless one happens to attending the last act of Götterdämmerung , in which audience participation is greatly encouraged.

There is the feature of most phones called "voicemail". Check it out. If it helps, you can change the voicemail greeting to be "I'm in the library, can't talk."

Voicemail iritates me no end. No one ever goes to it anyway, they just ring again and again.

I can beat that. I was playing in a classical music concert, when my phone went off. Thanks God it was only on vibrate, otherwise Holst's Suite in Eb would have been ruined.

Holst's Suite in Eb

I didn't know that EB had one of Holst's pieces in it...I also didn't know that "you are cell phone rings in the library" was a common occurrence...
Okay, enough of that. People with cellphones ringing all the time generally seem to have no respect for quiet, or privacy, or common sense. They're a bloody nuisance.

I saw a man being pushed out of church by robe clad monks. He was literally shouting down his phone. This was in italy.

He should have told the monks, that like them, he was answering his calling.

Back when I was enlisted I had my phone ring in formation while the 1SG was talking, needless to say I learned not to let that happen again.
