Yup, been on Facebook for a few years. Originally, you used to have to provide a university email address (at least in the UK anyway) to prove that you were an undergraduate or what not; otherwise you couldn't sign up. It was initially a means of connecting university students and alumni with one another.

Of course, they opened the floodgates since and now you can sign up no matter what your age or credentials or whatnot; the place has degenerated into 'txt spk' morons, for the most part. My updates are now plagued by my friends finding farm animals, new cooking recipes and attacking other mafia players... all these applications get really annoying, as do the groups such as "Join this group to read this funny text!" and then it's a virus thing... lovely.

Facebook is becoming what MySpace turned into a few years ago, unfortunately. :<

I still love it though... xD

The majority of them are only old school pupils from my year anyway; I haven't seen many of them since 2003 and they're mostly morons (Beskar can concur on that one, he was in the same year as I) who've simply added me to be nosy and see what I'm doing with my life rather than make any effort at conversation.

No, I'm just something of a Parsophile.

"Koutchoukali" is actually the Arabic spelling of the Turkish name "Küçükali", which means either "the youngest-" or "the smallest Ali". We don't really know, but apparently we had a family member with a Napeleon complex living in Turkey some few hundred years back! Imar is probably derived from "Amir" or "Emir", which means "Lord". There's also another theory that it stems from something meaning "(a) poet who is beloved by God" or something like that.

I read "FBI" for a moment there. Actually, the TWorg group was founded for the chat originally, but it's now an allround orgah meeting place. I'll PM you about something.

EDIT:
What about the etymology of imar אימר - Aramaic for "sheep"? Steinberg provides two theories. The first one (also mentioned by Jastrow) is that it is related to amar עמר - Aramaic for wool. In Hebrew the ayin switches to a tzade, and we get the word tzemer צמר.

...well that's not good. At least it explains my vegetarianism. Beeeeeh!
