Does anyone know how to (safely) remove or disable the speeches that happen before the battle starts? (BTW my First post)

I really don't have an idea, but logical solution would be to replace speech files with silent mp3 files having exactly the same file name. However I'm not sure if this would work, as I'm no modder and you'll likely get expert advice on the matter soon.

Replacing any speech files will not save you the misery of having to sit there for minutes. There is an option that allows you to remove cut-scenes. This is what will save you the misery.

"3. Event scenes

The third change is quite a minor one. I don’t like the even scenes – when general dies, gates are taken, etc. so I disabled them. If you want them gone too, go to preferences and change:
EVENT_CUTSCENES:TRUE to FALSE."

Sometimes i will listen to the speaches, just because they make me laugh...

There stands the barbarian horde!
We are figting the soldiers of Pharaoh! No friend has come to die for them!

If my general gave me such pre-battle speach i would run as soon as i could
