So just came back to thw game. I have a great campaign going, unfortunately no screenies but ill paint a pretty picture.

Big Differences
-got rid of superfaction
-all roman nations are at war
-a few minor changes with units in egypt and other powerhouses
-more common mercs

Oj its VH/Vh by the by

Ok so im playing the brutti. I start off having absolutely epic battles right away pre-marian with other romans, against spqr they are amazing. So after i conquer all of italian penisula i turtle a little. I have very good generals (like a five star and a six star) and good vetrean troops so i decide to initiate the first punic war. I move my two vetrean armies, one to the north and the other to a wating fleet. Full stack fleet and it GETS DESTROYED AND SUNK AFTER SURRONDED BY A LARGE CARTHIE FLEET! So im obviously pissed, i build up another army this one all green and land in Sicily. I raze the now white and blue isleand and claim it for my own. I set my eyes on caralis next. After i take this (easily) i move onto palma. While in palma besieging it i am attacked by a reinforcement army and am beset upon by two full stacks. Im using slightly tempered troops from sicilian campaign agaisnt hard bitten carthies from their numidian and spanish camapigns i suppose. My fleet is offshore and i lose to the carthies again! i only had like hastati and velites they already had poeni somehow.

So ends the first punic war.
Cent lost two full stacks but gained caralis and sicily.

I then began my northern campaign. I took my hardbitten from fighting gauls northern army (legion 1, only at this time) and quickly take patavium. i then blitz mediolanium. It is at this point i decide to wait for marian reforms. Because i always extemrinate these take awhile. So i begin a surronding scorched earth policy. I take segestica, luvavum, and massilia and burn them to the ground. i then depart. As well in this time i ally with the spainards. So as a final hurrah for a my 7 star butcher Gaius and the now vetrean 1st legion i move through a balkan campaign before the marian reforms. I take segestica, salona, apollonia, and thermon. Now what do i do with these provinces, i dont want them becaus eim turtling and the make my borders hell so i decide to finally end the war with carthage formally (their ships are ruining my shipping) i give them all those places. Mistake? we will see i guess.

Marian Forms begin.

I now have the marian reforms, the 1st legion is depleted my first family line is dying and im left with no defenses and no great leaders except for one promising lad with a genius attribute. I take him to the north. now did i mention medilanium had a circle of epona and patavium had abnoba. oh yeah! So rome starts pumping out first legions i create a set standard of legion, 6 first legion cohorts, 2 praetorian cohorts, 4 archer auxilia, 4 roman cavalry and two generals one of ground and one of horse. They fight this way as well.

I soon have a first legion again led by my young able general. I begin work on the second, they are all made at capua and rome and sent to train at mediolanium and patavium.

The second legion soon joins the 1st legion just in time it appears. The greeks have EXPLODED! they own all greece and most of the north and are invading (successfully) germania. They begin pressing me. My legions soon become very very vetrean. i retrain thme in mediolanium and patavium with each holding east and west.

By now i can make urban cohorts in rome and praetorian cavalry in capua. I now have six legions, 3 of first legionary cohort, 2 praetorian, and 1 urban legion. they are numbered by vetreancy (urban being number 6). Now carthage has enetered into hostilities again and they are throwing stacks along with the greeks, my spanish allies are moving through northern gaul and hold massilia for me.

I am not so badly occupied i cant take a few nips of my favorite places. I take the third legion (first legionary cohort) and invade crete, rhodes. After consolidating these and building them a fleet, i take cyprus to slow down the eggies. I give it to pontus.

It is around now the spanairds turn on me. The north is split between greeks and spain with even mighty Britain falling. I have to defend both east and west and my fleets are decimated (my third legion is destroyed in transit by huge greek navies). I am fighitng a three front war and relaize i need to torch my enemies. I move into luvavum and torch it. I move into segestica and torch it again give it to gauls (last city), i can get no further against stiff resistance against carthage. I attempt to move agaisnt spains massilia for its single bridge to defend and fail......... the Spaniards move all their forces against me and even in auto calc the famed 6th legion cannot defeat the odds (urban cohorts!) I am slowly losing ground but fight on. I give up the fight for the north and fall back to rome. I hav elost three legions since my hieght and am down to the 6th legion, 5 legion and second legion. All golden chevroned and ready to defend the heartland. I allow the carthies to take arminium and patavium and allow the sapinards to take mediolanium, segesta, and arretium. I take a bold risk with my finances whixh have been suffering sinc emy near toal blockade. i begin construction of an urban legion which becomes the 7th legion. i also build fleets of quinquiremes i dip into bankruptcy (-1564 denarri at one point) These troops are for a burning camapign against the carthaginians whom i hav eoffered notihng but good will. I take palma and raze it. Burn everytihng and mov eon. i take Carthage and thapsus. I hold these with the seventh. Over on the homefront everything is going well. I have begun my campaign of reconquest. I have taken back arminum from the carthies and also patavium and mediolanium, There are around 5 full stacks of spains near my other former cities, i exterminate the cities, they change hands some more. I Now have legions posed to take my last two cities i lost form both the north and the south. It is now 150 bc.

i liked taking this game really slow it is a huge challenge now and super enjoyable, i encourage everyone to try no super faction i haven't tried as a non roman yet to see if the non Romans do good with roman in fighting

sorry for no screenshots i hope you guys enjoy my account.

I have played before as a non roman doing no-superfaction. Every time i did it, the SPQR wiped out the other romans and controlled the peninsula, however their expansion was then limited due to only being one roman faction now instead of three. They did not exit italy.

AI factions don't attack SPQR. Superfactions enabled or not.
And SPQR only attacks other Roman factions and that's it. They are not even at war with the Slave/Rebel faction!

huh i tried a quick campaign as greeks and the brutti ended up winning the civil war. i pumped them full of cash though. everyone ganged up on the spqr and then the scippi and finally julii lost the north.

actually ibn not if you change the hostility in strategy folder. you can have them all starting at war.

We do this a lot in the EB Forums. It's a lot better than vanilla in so many different ways. Anyways, my current vanilla campaign, which I haven't touched for some time, is this last post (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?97476-Best-Campaign/page6).

I don't mean to stray from the topic or ask a stupid question but what is no superfaction and how do you do this. I usually only played as a roman faction because that was the only way I had a sucessful campaign. I tried the greeks once but when a roman bodyguard unit charged my armored hoplites he wiped them out. I became annoyed and started a campaign as the blue roman faction. I'd like to try rome again though.

ah ok here you go
1. open my computer
2. go to local disk
3 go to program files
4. go to the creative assembly
5. open rtw folder
6. go to data
7. go to world folder
8. go to maps
9. go to campaign
10. go to imperial_campaign
11. go to descr_strat

12. remark in awe about the power you now wield over the game.

13. here you can play as other faction that arent unlockaable like thrace and macedon. just copy the unplayable into playable and you dont have to wait to unlock old factions. but dont play as rebels or senate they can be glitchy but senate works sometimes.

14. you can change start and end date si make the game longer because15. i draw it out oftentimes.
15. dont touch the next part about landmarks, i thought my first time it was like values in denarri its map position changing them haphazardly will wreck your game.
16. go down and see start of factions first should be julii you can delete super faction but make sure you do it for all the romans.

Also you can change their starting units, generals ages (sometimes that glitches on me though) and change money and ai playing style. I usually give selkies lots of cash, egypt nothing and no units.

Farther down are ai interactions with other countries you can affect diplomacy dont worry the ai is still retarded though. once again i make everyone hate the eggies.

As well you guys to stop spqr dominating just get rid of their like chevroned units and some of the non chevroned ones. problem solved. julii, scippi, and brutii will siege their cities and if they have trouble doing that just change diplomacy values.

sorry for being longwinded but you should be able to fiddle around now pretty easily with that stuff.
