Wellington's guide should have that in it.
It's pinned to the top of the board http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
If it's not or you don't understand
let us know.

Depends what you mean Beavis,

If you mean replacing one generic BIF's images with others extracted from another BIF (that obviously contains different images) you will have a LOT of grief - and it makes no sense anyway.

If you mean extracting shields and weapons from one BIF to add another BIF this is relatively easy.

Whatever your planning to do in terms of transposing figure images (however complicated it is), will be a doddle compared to the object (weapons/shield) repositioning you will undoubtadly have to do also.

If you can be more specific (not in terms of technicalities but rather 'what you want to achieve&#39http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif there are many people who can point you in the right direction.

How about swapping unit colors???

I've been dying to swap English lipstick red with Sicilian grey.

Beavis,

I still don't really follow you. However you have to consider that there is no such thing as a "chivalric knight sprite" or a "royal knight sprite". I'm not being pedantic here, it's just that any of the images you see on the MTW battlefield for these 2 units are built up of 4 "sprites" -

- the cavalryman image
- a weapon image
- a shield image
- a horse image

... therefore anything you visualise as a single sprite that defines a unit is really a combination of many different sprites. It's the combination of these 4 images (which can be changed/amended) that serves to "define" chivalic knights as chivalic knights.

If you want to change how any single unit "looks like" - sounds to me like you just want to make chivalric knights look the same as royal knights - you'll have to read a few threads (or the Animation Guide in the stickies, although this may be a bit too much for what you want to do).

Unfortunately it's not as easy as just changing the name as you will have to change the names of several files - which although being straightforward enough is a bit of a chore.

Is this what you want to do?

it is probably better in this case just to create an entirely new unit.

That`s what I wanted to do Wellington. Thanks for your time and advice.
